Affection

That huge snake that was a family pet story reminded me of a picture I saw in the paper once, I think it was from The Phillipines or Indonesia. This 3 year old boy had this massive snake for a pet; I'm not sure what kind but it must have been at least 10 feet. The snake was all curled up and the little boy was sleeping on it; apparently they're best friends. :)

Now here's a new tack on the "Can I house two snakes together?" debate. :twohammer

I saw a simular show or maybe it was the same, where a large family had not one, but several venomous snakes living with them. The snakes roamed free around the house, children eveywhere.
Don't try this at home. I remember a story that was the buzz around here for a while . A local guy got casual with his cobras and stuck his hand in to get the water bowl for cleaning . He's dead now. :(

For some reason my snake likes my head.Every time i hold him he will head straight for my head. Then he will curl up and go to sleep(on my head!!!)
He just looks too cute for me to take off.

Hmm... who knows maybe it had something to do with the shampoo i use... LOL

Kriz mine heads straight for my lower back, without fail, every time. Making him extremely difficult to handle (he's very strong). I think he's playing 'if I can't see her she can't see me'!

i had a king snake that would strike at anyone who tried to handle her the oment they touched her. but she never striked at me.

annabella has licked my face? and he always rubs her noise on my palm or fingers. i don't know if that coul be afection or not?

there was a show on one of the cable nature channels about a family in Indonesia who had a "pet" king cobra...They are neat anyway, but it was really amazing to see how casual all the family members and the king interacted...at one point the snake was kind of in the way of them making dinner outside...the 6 year calmy picks up the front end (as much as a 6 year old can pick up a 12' or so snake) and assists it out of the way...snake never hoods, doesnt bat an eye lol...it moves freely throughout the home and outside, sits among them and is trated as a family member, not a pet...I think they believe it is a spirit of one of their relatives...awesome pest control too as far as rats and other venomous snakes in the home and about....beautiful animals...

i was watching some show on king cobras in India and there was this expert in this vilage and he was trying to talk about this kingcobra and the vilagers started atacking him when he tried to hold the cobra, they though he was trying to do harm to it and they were protecting it. he had to explain to them that he alos honourd the king cobra befor they would leave him alone.

Sweets likes to be stroked when I hold him and he loves to climb in my hair and into my cleavage but I don't think that could be considered affection.

Both my snakes seem to really like when I hold their heads between my fingers and rub their heads with my thumb. ESP Max.

You know those commercials where the cars are weaving back and forth through the orange cones?

CB must've seen the commercial:

Its the only 'trick' I've seen mine do(if that can be called a trick)

Mine all have their individual quirks and some are friendlier than others. All my snakes are more at ease with me than anyone else except for my new female who rattles her tail and lunges at me and won't sit still when I'm holding her, but is quite relaxed with my boyfriend....go figure?? I'm trying to get him to handle her as much as possible to 'break her in' so I can hopefully have her a little calmer for me.
