Agressive Female on new clutch

After about 9 hours since beginning to lay about 13 eggs, in her empty water dish, my Miami phase will not let me collect any eggs. Her response is hissing and coiling tighter around the eggs. She doesn't appear to be laying any more. I have marked the top of all I can reach with a magic marker...Has anyone ever had to forcefully remove a female from her clutch?

My female tightened her coils when I tried to take the eggs out too, but you just need to do it. Also, I believe I read NOT to use markers on eggs; the ink could be absorbed and be toxic.

Yeah, I just gently lifted her off the pile, which stayed together enough so that i could bury it in the peat in the incubator. She's eaten one mouse, thankfully and is staring down the second, (dead) one. it's been a long, nerve-wracking day.

Never mind I just read your first post again.
I was wondering if you knew she was gravid or was this a surprise clutch, it's a good idea to give them a box with damp moss to lay the eggs in.

extremely independent female type

she eats when and where she wants, lays eggs when and where she wants, ect. the hockey game's starting-gotta go!
