Almost sixteen...and I spend my money on a snake!

It was time for a new snake and I had found a type I liked. After some research and talking to a few breeders, I decided on a kind I had never really heard of before. I talked to a man up in Wisconsin who bred this certain snake and I finally decided to purchase a little male.

Say hello to my newest addition, Darwin, the Thai Bamboo Rat Snake! (Thanks to Elle for giving me a great list of names to help me chose from!)

More, better quality pictures will be posted after he has a few days to settle in.

Thanks for looking!

He is freakin amazing! I adore coxi rats, and I love his name... I wonder why LOL.

I am coveting this snake so much right now, but since I named him, I suppose we are part of each other in a way. Can you post me his first shed skin or something sick like that? LOL!

I love his wee black neck blocky thing, thats cute! Whats his temprement like? Is he psycho like most baby coxi? Aren't they just such elegant snakes :)

I wish I could source one easily for under £300...

Thanks Rich and Jiva!!

Thanks Elle! You may have his first shed, lol.

I think the black blotch will eventually go away but your right, it is cool! So far I have only held him for a minute and he didn't try to bite but I could tell he was scared. The real test will be in a few days when I get him out and take some "good" pictures. I see he has a nice water droplet on his mouth in these and I didn't really want to scare him anymore than he already was so I took some quick pictures.

I don't think it will go away. It's chinese bamboo rats that are born blocky and completely lose them as adults. I hope his block doesn't fade! You should call him Sir Darwin blocketh of Penddleshire.

I have horrible green jealous eyes at the moment. Arg...

Thanks Janine!

Why are you so jealous? You have like the most amazing collection of snakes ever!

Wow, now that is just STUNNING!!!

You have got to post a progression thread on that little beauty!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Susie! Thats a good idea. I will make that thread sometime this weekend when I get some better pictures.

Oh shut up dude, you have one of the rarest CB asian ratsnakes. THATS why I am so jealous. I would have to pay over $600 to get my hands on one over here.

VERY Nice Dave! What a fantastic next addition for you. And I completely agree - we definately need to see frequent updates of him!!

i know i'm a dude, and this probably isnt very manly. but that snake is absolutely beautiful. if i had the money i would get one in a heartbeat. wow...just....wow.

 That snake is STUNNING!
Definately keep an update on this thread with that guy.

It was kind of funny looking at the pictures, I thought the snake was a LOT bigger then he really is... I thought that until I scrolled down and saw the pic with the quarter

Briliant color! Congrats :)
