i really dont understand that because my heat pad always feels warm to the touch and i have a thermostat that regulates it under 84 degrees... QUOTE]
I have cold hands and my UTH always feels worm to me even though it's only 85. Try feeling it with the back of your hand or even your cheek  . If there's any dought in the accuracy of your thermomiter check it with another one (use the normal oral kind if you have nothing else). Better safe then sorry :D.

BECKY G's Wak as hell!!!!!!!!!!

Just you can't stand to be wrong doesn't mean I'm WAK, whatever that means...

Lenny, let me clarify on the body temp thing. Your CORE body temp is 98.6', but on your SKIN SURFACE, you temp is usually around 91'.

Tula, I guess if you have poor circulation or something, your fingers may be less than what is considered normal. Therefore your heat pad would feel warm. But I'd see a doctor about it if it were me. Poor circulation is an early warning sign on diabetes.

i am always cold :( *sniffs*

Yeah- seconds on the repti-carpet. Unless you clean it thoroughly it's just another hellish breeding ground for any kind of bacteriological infestation that would have gone out with a change of substrate.

Not to mention that if the UTH is too high and you place the repti-carpet over the UTH the snake can get between the glass of the viv and the carpet which uses the carpet as an insulator thereby raising the temps, not lowering them.

I recommend a nice probe-style thermometer and at LEAST a rheostat.

Good Luck.
