These are from the same parents (both amels ht caramel & stripe) but a year apart. The amel stripe is an 07 and the butter stripe is 08.

Those are two different snakes? and one is an amel? They look like pictures of the same snake, a butter stripe, I'd say. A nice snake, but the same snake it seems!

i thought that they both looked like butters and i agree that i also thought that it was just the one snake.

Nope deffo an amel stripe and a butter stripe and deffo not the same snake.
Sorry for poor pic here but quickly put them in same tub just to show difference. The big one has red stripes, where as the little one has tan like stripes

I'd say your het might be homo! If not, talk about serious het markers.. I've got an amel stripe het butter who I think is pretty yellow, and she's nowhere near that yellow..

Beauties both!

Where did you get the amel stripe from? What kind of parent does he/she have?

There is slight difference in color now that they're in the same picture, but still he/she seems more yellow than amels... Amel stripes have orange background and darker orange/red stripes. If you look the pictures of amel stripes in google:

Hi tom i have had a few people say they think it is homo carmel, i will find out next year when i breed her. But there are so much differences between the butter stripe and the amel stripe. This year in the same clutch as the butter i had some amel stripes that looked just like the 07 one.

Yep, I'd also say they're butters. Just like in any colour there can be quite wide range of tones in butters. Some are darker, some paler etc... You've got nice butters there! :)

The parents are definitely amels, but they are also quite hyperxanthic! As for whether the large stripe is an amel or a dark butter...I think at this point, it's anybodies guess. I can see why you call it an amel stripe, but I can also see why others think it might be a butter. As you say, next year's breeding may tell you. What are you planning to pair her with?

Hhhmm thats a point, the only males i have now (sold several adult last year) that are homo for caramel are my caramel bloodred and the butter stripe, oh and a butter motley, seems a shame to waste a very good stripe pattern to a motley. I will have to think that one over nearer the time, have to see if the caramel blood will do the job.
