That's what AJ thought he saw crossing the road this afternoon. I didn't see so he insisted that we HAD to go back and check. This is what I found.

To quote AJ:

"We have to go back! It was a seal or a fish or something. It might have even been a platypus!"

(>.<) Anyways, does anyone know what kind of turtle it is? I've been looking online and can't seem to find out. Is it native to Ohio? AJ thought it was too pretty to be native, he thinks it was released by a college student possibly.

Reminds me of the red eared slider I had as a child. :) Sally lived in my bathtub and bit one of my friends once I think. My mom let her go at a pond on her uncle's property, at nature camp a few months later, two little "turtle experts" told me that she probably died. I was crushed.

Sounds like AJ has quite the imagination lol

It definitely looks like a paint turtle. They are native to Ohio and many other states. I'm glad you were able to save it from getting hit by a car.
It looks like a very healthy one also.

Haha! You guys are too funny. :p

And yeah it was in excellent shape. I looked it over for any bite marks or chips or injured limbs. Considering how many feral cats and loose dogs we have around here I'm surprised that it looked so perfect. That's why AJ thought it was released too.

My kindergarten teacher had a turtle in her classroom. I love turtles. :)
