She's beautiful, Mary! I love how she gets lighter toward the head. I tried to mate my girl to my male cream last year, but he was terrified of her. :grin01: Hoping this year will be better. Great looking babies too :cheers:
 
What a big, beautiful girl. And that 75%(?) emoryi "baby" has changed my mind about some breeding plans. I've gotta make my own rootbeers in the next few years. :)
 
Thanks for the kind comments everyone - we love the look of the 'rootbeers' - very lovely tans and they are huge! My male holdback from that clutch is going to have a go with a female corn this year - they show a really rapid growth rate in the first year - were eating fuzzy mice from when they hatched.

mbdorfer - best of luck with that breeding - we found that this female has cycled later than our corns and would only accept this big male creamsicle - she intimidated our other male. Friends that have a male emoryi have not had much luck getting him interested in their corn female - I do think there are some real species differences between these guys and corns - they certainly are not quite as ready to accept each other as mates as within their own species. There is a tremendous amount of hybrid vigor in the F1 babies too.

They sure are worth it though - really like the emoryi and like the crosses even better. Is great to see so many being shown off here,

I so much lik ethe silver ones with the bronze or chocolate saddles! I hope to breed them myslef this year by corssing my miami male with my emoryi lady... logic says bronze saddles could come out of it..... at least, my logic does...
 
My emoryi male looks much like that grey one. He's not that large, though. I may try to breed him next year to the amel female who's going in with a creamsicle this season. And I adore our '05 rootbeer. He'll be a year old in March. He's almost as big as my smallest '04 and eats two fuzzies every week. He has that light color, too, with soft oranges.
