My 3 dogs seem to have an aversion to touching each other. They never lay together like that on the couch; they will sleep next to me, no problem, but not each other. They need their personal space, for whatever reason. If they took advantage of each others body heat, they wouldn't have to suck all of mine from me! :)

The area we go to almost every day is an open area right in the middle of town. When I was a child, there were ponies grazed there, it's where I learnt to ride, no hat, no saddle, no bridle, just a halter and rope on a mad pony! We collected slow worms and common lizards there and would sledge down the slopes using giant cardboard boxes. Now it's 'managed' I rarely see the see the lizards but it's important nesting for skylarks and you always see kestrels.
The boys lay together a lot, Rosie likes her own space on her chair and tells them off if they disturb her
 
Akilah is like Rosie....you can lay next to her, but don't touch the Queen when she's sleeping...no one else seems to care...
 
My dogs, at home, sleep near each other, but never on the same bed. Up at Rich's, they have a huge round bed and they both get on it. But- that's the only bed, not counting their crates. Here, they have two crates and two beds. And right now Bella is in the only bed Ella will use, so Ella is right next to her, on the floor. Ella also likes to be right on top of me, figuratively speaking. They aren't allowed on furniture.
 
A trip to the reservoir today. Flash and rosie stayed pretty much by our sides while Bertie had to do a lap of the whole area before he could slow down enough to be sensible!

Do you go down the Strand and/or Riverside park much? I always see loads of dog walkers around there :) (if it's dry my little sister & I will be doing that walk Christmas morning to meet up with family).
 
I do usually, but it's too far for Flash just yet so he's only been there once, quick paddle and back again. He's growing so fast I'm still being careful of his joints. Probably be Spring before he can go there regularly. I usually do take the others there for the Christmas Greyhound walk but we'll have to miss it this year
 
Here's what walking nicely does to dogs! We took our first ever walk with my grandaughter, which involved her zooming around and splashing in puddles, with the dogs having to walk nicely to heel. Teaching Nicole that she can't jump on the dogs and the dogs that they can't jump on her even when she's shrieking 'woof woof' at them was great fun. Our progress around the park was so slow that Rosie and Bertie practically collapsed once we got home!

Then a day at the reservor fishing yesterday, up leaving at 6. Flash had to be encouraged into the van, but settled well and travelled better this time. The dogs got to charge around while we set up, as there were no other anglers there, then settled down while we fished. I took them on lead walks several times during the day as by then there were others fishing that I didn't want the dogs to disturb or the potential with them getting into anyone's hooks and bait.
We surprised the biggest fox I've seen in ages, laying in a patch of sunshine. About a second after the photo the dogs caught his scent and went crazy, off went Mr Fox in a hurry!
Today we've been out in the rain for our usual walk, with the dogs getting free-running time with their friend toby the cavalier. Bertie's recall was AWESOME! I didn't want to stay out in the rain for long and he came straight to me for a big fuss when I called him rather than heading out into the long grass.

And it looks like a grand time was had by all! I see Nicole has discovered how entertaining puddles can be!

I'm surprised you got even one photo of the fox; that would have been so cool to see!

The fox was curled up in a sunny patch about 8 feet away from us. Luckily the dogs were on their leads though, otherwise it could have been either a bad end for the fox or a long and fruitless chase after the dogs!
 
Moving on from the clicker training with treats....Flash has a strong play drive, so teaching him fetch is great fun! Starting off indoors, and progressing to outside. (On a long-line because this was near the road. Rosie and Bertie were clipped to the fence)

My feral puppy likes to run after a rope or occasionally a ball but she doesn't like it enough to just want to do it a lot. My ridgebacks of course think it's absolutely ridiculous to go and retrieve something you're just going to throw away again...They will do it once, but after that they just look disgusted...
 
Rosie and Bertie both love chasing, whether it's a ball, a plastic bottle blown by the wind, a bird they've snuck up on, foxes they've flushed, rabbits or the rats, but they are rubbish at retrieving. Flash is obsessed with bringing toys back to me so hopefully I'll actually have one dog who can play fetch properly!
Playing 'leave it' indoors with their treats and toys is slowly transferring to 'leave it' outside, with Rosie and thankfully Bertie getting better at ignoring cats etc when they are on the lead. I keep hoping for colder weather to send the squirrels to sleep, because they are a major temptation at the moment!
 
Mine will chase squirrels....Tavis will chase anything that moves...deer, squirrels, birds....but not toys...they just don't care about that and the ridgebacks will call off anything. Tavis won't....that's the beagle in him and the reason why he either wears an e-collar or is on leash any time he's not in a safe area or somewhere that if he gets loose could remain lost forever.
 
Rosie is 5 today! We celebrated with what was supposed to be a brisk walk due to the heavy winds and rain that turned into a run. Great fun, especially as all 3 know to stop on the command 'Wait'! when it was a bit too slippery for me to run.

I know! And she was a little horror for about the first 18 months. She was so naughty I really wondered what I'd let myself in for.
