I was just wondering is it possible to have an anery okeetee? One with thick black borders and saddles with different shades of grey. Just curious, I think it would be cool. :shrugs:
This isn't a new question and is a definite possibility if someone wants to undertake the selective breeding necessary. An anery along the looks of this one might be a start. Too bad he didn't make it.
If I were starting this project I wouldn't use Motley since it typically reduces melanin. This snake would be a good start, it is a charcoal. Per Don Soderberg, he purchased some okeetees from Lee Abbott and every year he gets a few from those lines that he didn't outcross. I am sure he has some available if someone is really serious about starting a project. The mom of this snake is the banded female on the cover of his book.
I still think it would take years to produce a really good anery "Okeetee phase" corn. I love gray snakes so I say go for it.
There was quite a good debate about whether this guy is a new anery, or just a really nice okeetee style anery.
I bought two of his babies and will find out as soon as they are of breeding age. I also plan to breed them to a couple of my Aneries and Charcoals to see if it is one of the two.
