Hello!

I'm Kathy and i just got 2 baby corns (brother & sister) one normal one anery. I'm so in love already. Got them 3 days ago.

I've been having much stress about their heating bc everyone has their own opinion!

I decided my best bet will be using the 8x8 exo-terra pad. it's getting over 100 degrees though so I can't use it yet.

I just ordered, based on advice from another forum, a thermostat and a dual probe digital thermometer. I hope this works b/c it has me very stressed.

Right now, until I get my stuff on Monday, I will only use the red light I got that I thought would work well on it's own. Not here b/c my cats are a pain Light will end up getting knocked off.

I've read to get an LED strip with red lights so I can see them when they are more active at night so I'm going to check that out too since i'm fascinated to watch them.

I have named them Adam & Eve. I know Satan was a serpent but Adam and Eve seem kinda cute and I don't think I'll be jinxing myself, lol! Those are about the first names that come to mind when I think snakes. I have a couple not great pics and have changed their names vs what I put on the one pic and can't seem to remove it.

They are very cute. But do be sure to seperate them soon. Baby corns are well known for eating each other. Not to mention they might breed too early which stresses and can kill the female. PLUS hundreds of other issues.
Just do a quick search here for threads about cohabbing to learn more.

Otherwise they are lovely. You can get a lightdimmer to control the temp of the UTH too.

Welcome to the site and congrats on the purchases, very nice snakes but as mentioned above be sure to separate them soon could lead to many issues

Thanks everyone. The female is much more timid and so I havent disturbed her to get a better pic.

someone also PM'd me about separating. I had read this and I was unsure of what to do but now I'm going to have to figure out affording another setup. This has me so stressed out. I know once everything is good, I'll be ok.

I have ordered the thermostat from BigApple and a 2 probe thermometer.

I might get a small plastic enclosure for one of them, a pad that can go on plastic and move one. That would definitely be the cheaper way to go and it would get by for a while. I've seen quite large plastic ones with locking lids.

Aa long as you have heat, water, substrate and a hide you should he fine, if you want to use as little money as possible use a toilet roll or something as a hide, and have a look on eBay or something for a cheap tub or something that's suitable for the snake to live in, it won't be too long before they will be ready for something bigger but it gives you a short amount of time to get something sorted properly, if you were in the uk I could have sold you my old starter kit tub that I had for mine, how big is the housing you have them in at the moment? Could you split it but give them enough room to roam etc

they are in a 10gl tank and I don't know how I'd separate them. I might order this cage on petco, the have the one I'm looking for, it's plastic about the same floor space as my fish tank, just not as tall. The heat mat would be cheaper, but I have to regulate it, and every single person online says thermostat is an absolute must! if I got the smaller pad that goes on plastic I bet it wouldn't get so hot. My 8x8 desert pad got over 100, I freaked out when I saw that!

Hello and Welcome!

I am also in Fort Wayne, IN!!!

I know a breeder offering corns on craigslist co-habs but not recommended at all really.
I use the storage tote method, and I highly recommend it. It's also cheaper...

I have an male anery (Renji) and a female butter corn. I hope to get more soon!

Anyways, If i can help please let me know!

I think they are gorgeous! Plus they are not the colors I thought I'd be drawn to. I can't decide on names. I had Eiffel and Elyse, but then thought Adam and Eve. I can't decide!

Pic of my male I thought was cute:
