Any Mice Sellers In Dallas/Fort Worth Area?

Spitfire

Snakeless
Does anyone in the DFW area breed their own mice. I don't really like to pay 2 bucks at Petland for a puny pinky so does anyone round here breed and sell their own pinky/fuzzies and give me a good deal like a buck per mouse? (live mice, my snkae won't accept frozen)

This question was just asked and answered on your other post:

http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=62454#post62454

Instead of throwing your hands up and saying "my young snake won't accept frozen", why don't you make the effort to convert it over to frozen?? Use the search function to find a wealth of information on how to due this. Unfortunately, live feeders will always cost more than frozen. Frozen pinkies and fuzzies cost less than $0.20 each.

Will you sereiously stop being mean! Yoi people just like to give others a hard time. MAYBE I already have tried. Don't you think I actually research the topic before I just give up?

And I checked the Big Cheese Fatory already. It's like a two and a half hour from where I live. I'll be cheaper to buy from Petland. I was trying to save money, not waste it all on gas money.

They are sent to your door through FedEx or UPS. You don't have to drive anywhere; that is how the online suppliers work.

There could be many reasons for your snake not eating: temerature too high, temperature too low, lighting, stress, attempting to feed too often, freezer burned mice from Petco, ect, ect. Instead of being able to identify the reason for your snake not eating, you have simple determined that your snake doesn't eat frozen. What experience are you basing this on?

I for one am willing to answer all of the questions that you want to ask, but you need to realize that you are filling up the forums with repeat questions that have recently been asked and answered.

On one thread you stated that your snake had feed f/t twice and on another you said that it didn't eat f/t. You have also posted asking if anyone had snakes available in the D/FW area. When I replied, you stated that are were "just browsing". This becomes confusing and unnecessary for all envolved. I'd suggest that you take a deep breath and start over.

If your serious about posting, take the time to post details and not assumptions. Now let's figure out why your snake isn't eating. ;)

1) How long have you owned this snake?

2) When was the last time it ate?

3) Was it eating frozen when you got it?

4) Do you know if it was eating at the time of purchase?

5) What is your set-up like? What are then temps?

6) How often are you attempting to feed?

People aren't being mean, you just need a better understanding of how the forum works if you want to get help. Cool??

Don't talk to me CAV, ok?

CAV~ whoever you are, you are just real mean. I know how forums work and for the most part I don't need your help. You're a show off bully. And what do you mean it fills up the forums. So what if it does. There is so much space on this server that you don't need to worry about that. Now you go your own ways and I'll go my own.

One more thing. Thanks a bunch cecandy for informing of the new opening of Big Cheese. NO THANKS TO CAV FOR BEING MEAN.

Spitfire,
I don't think CAV was being mean, actully I think that she/he (sorry cav) was tring to be helpful. I also think that your post are confusing. I had to go back and read all your post to see what was going on. And just a tip, Posting it all together will get you a better answer to all your questions because being new you might not see a link to your questions that others may see. Im not tring to be mean at all, just simply helpful.

PS. even if you don't agree with someone there is a polite way to do it. Coming down on a established member that is helpful and knowlegable, will make may others angry.

I know you're not trying to be mean but it sounds mean to me. So please, if you're not going to answer the topic of the thread and instead critisize someone, then just don't respond at all. "If you don't have anyhting nice to say, don't say anything at all." Also, I would combine my post, IF I can think of all the questions I'm going to ask in the next 20 years. But I'm not psychic or anything and think of different questions at different times. And tyretsmom, I really don't wanna make this sound mean, but my posts don't necesserily have to go toghether. So you just confuse yourself by going and reading all my posts. And why are you taking CAV's side. He's the one trying to prove me wrong and stuff.

Our Conversation Just on THIS Thread

CAV - This question was just asked and answered on your other post:

(it really wasn't. it answered where to get frozen mice shipped to your house and I had already clarified that my snake doesn't take frozen. then he goes on debating that it'll take f/t. just cause he doesn't like the idea of feeding live doesn't give him the right to go tell everyone who's feeding live that it's wrong.)

CAV - They are sent to your door through FedEx or UPS. You don't have to drive anywhere; that is how the online suppliers work.

(well, duh! but i said that i wanted somewhere CLOSE to dfw, not get me to pay another fortune for some frozen mice that my snake won't eat.)

I net you that someone's gonna say something again about me posting and it's gonna be in favor of "The Big Bad Mr. Professional CAV" Oh well, life's tough and everything doesn't always go your way. Sam

I'm sorry that you feel this way.

he goes on debating that it'll take f/t. just cause he doesn't like the idea of feeding live doesn't give him the right to go tell everyone who's feeding live that it's wrong.

Personally, I've seen dozens of snakes that "didn't eat frozen" but amazingly enough, I've rarely had to resort to live feedings. I could care less if you want to feed live. I'm not a militant "you must only feed f/t" type. The whole basis for this thread centered on your concerns about the cost of buying live feeders. If you feed live, your food cost are never going to come close to that of frozen. You might as well get used to that $1-3.00 price tag for pinkies, fuzzies and other assorted sizes. BTW, don't forget the cost of setting up an enclosure for the mice, the food costs and the "smell factor". That seems excessive for providing food for a single snake. I merely offered you some insight into other possibilities. I even went so far as to ask you a few questions that could help you solve the f/t dilemma that you are facing. But, what do I know? ;)

You're a show off bully.

Actually, I am a hobbyist whose sole concern is the welfare of your snake. As a keeper, your skills are learned from a lot of trial and error. This is commonly referred to as "experience". Making a statement like "my snake doesn't eat frozen", without the experience to understand why, makes you appear aloof and unwilling to learn the skills that are essential for a successful herper.

Long story short: you don't have to worry about me being mean any longer. This is the last response you will receive from me on this forum. Best of luck to your snake.

Feeding Live Mice

Spitfire -

I havent been a member of this forum for long, but Ive read enough of the posts to know that you really need to have some respect for the help that others are trying to offer you.

I understand your predicament with feeding your snake live pinkies, my snake too started out that way. Eventually though we did have to switch to frozen not just because of cost, but also because of danger to the snake.

It is a possibility that as your snake gets older and the demand for larger prey items increases, live mice can seriosly hurt your snake. It would be easier for you to try a little harder with the frozen mice now then to have a ton of vet bills later (much more expensive than live mice)

I've read through several heated threads and I think that everyone around you is trying to be very patient with you as they realize you are new to all of this.

Well,

Not that I think this partiular post is appropriate, but what kind of shows go on in our area that I cannot find advertised anywhere? I saw in the paper there was an "All Pet Expo" going on in Grapevine this weekend, but I'd like to know if there are usually any big herp events in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Thanks to any of you who may know!!!

Cindy

There are several great shows in DFW, and Houston for that matter. Shows are hard to find right now. They will usually start back up in April-May. The majority of shows are held in the fall after the hatchlings arrive. Message me for more details and specifics.

No actually this server isn't so big that it won't matter, ask Rich if you can post the same question 4 times and it won't matter. He pays for the server and if it goes over the bandwith limi then he has to pay more. No Cav is not a bully he is trying to help you and you're whining because it's not going your way, no I'm not being mean just honest. Sorry if that could be considered a flame (it waasn't meant to be).

Yall are beating a dead horse here. The person in question is 12 years old and more than likely doesn't have much, if any say in the matter. And it's probably beyound her means to do much (ie. driving anywhere, mail ordering anything)

Just my .02,

Quigs

PS. Maybe I'm mean...so be it! :sobstory:

Hey Cindy

The only shows I know of for sure are the Texas reptile expos in Arlington. I just got an email today with this years dates. Go to texasreptileexpo.com for the dates. They arent usually real big shows, but I have picked up a few snakes there. There was also a couple of bigger shows at the Arlington Convention center last year. Bob Clark was one of the sponsers. I would highly recommend this show. As far as mice, for anybody interested I use a place called Pet Snake Snacks [i think]. They are located near downtown Dallas. The owner, Otis is a great person to deal with. He delivers my mice and rats right to my house. He is always at the local shows and has a great selection of live or frozen. Hope this helps some one.

The TX Reptile Expo is not one I'd recommend. Message me if you want more details.

Bob had two shows last year. They were some of the best of the year IMO. I've heard that he is supposed to have them again this year. Great selection of reptiles.

CAV...

I don't think you were ever mean to spitfire. I personally think you did an awesome job of trying to help her even though she kept criticizing you.

Dangit people. Get it right. I'm a guy. And this is one of those drop it and leave it alone things. CAV (Gary) and I are good friends right now. That was in the past so just leave it alone. You can even ask him yourself.
