Anybody in here do any backpacking?

22 is not enough snakes
I'm gearing up for a 150-some mile backpacking/rafting trip for the day after graduation. I'll be sure to take my camera with me because the views from the trail (where there is a trail anyway) are spectacular, and there's always an abundance of snakes in this area. I'm just kinda curious to see if anybody else on this forum does this sort of thing...

I love backpacking!! Unfortunately most of mine lately is done going to class. I hope to take a trip over to Arkansas when it warms up to do some backpacking and some spelunking...

I have gone backpacking a time or two, but haven't done any recently. I am planning a backpacking trip out to Big Bend National Park here in Texas. Hopefully I will be able to do this in the next year or so. and I will deffinately have a hook by then, and a camera with lots of film.

You sure got a purdy mouth, boy!

Watch out for the three-fingered banjo player. ;)

I have, but I have a bad back so I don't do well on the longer trips. Speaking of which though, I'm going on a short one in about 2 weeks!

Yeah thanks Gary, my birthday was shortly after I started planning this trip last year so my dad got me a copy of that movie for "educational purposes"...lol

My best friend and I are driving to the grand canyon in July....we have 10 days to go over 3000 miles each way and hike to the bottom...I can't wait :crazy02:

Nice, I can't wait to get back there myself. And I hope that 3000 miles involves driving, because otherwise you are out of your mind...lol

Last time I was at the Grand Canyon, we were hiking down the rim trail to the bottom and we kept passing all these people that looked to be in decent shape. They were all huffing and puffing and looked like they were about ready to drop. That led to what would be the highlight of that trip for me. In amongst all those tired, beaten-down people, came these two nuns in their 60's at least. They were completely unphased and it looked like they were just walking down the street or something instead of being 8 hours into a hike from the bottom of the canyon. We talked to them for a few minutes and they had been hiking back up the path all day long but you would've never known it to see them...
