Anybody Know What Type of Corn This May Be?

Hi all,
I'm curious if any of you experts out there can tell me what "kind" of corn snake my Flash may be? I was told he was a creamsicle, but after seeing Creamsicles at the Anaheim show today, I'm seriously doubting that he is. :shrugs:

I'm thinking more along the line of a candy cane. What do you all think?

If you bought it as a creamsicle, then it is a creamsicle. Creamsicles are hybrids/intergrades...corn snake X Great Plains Rat Snake (e.g.emoryi) crosses. There are many "morphs" of creamsicles these days.

I will say that your snake does have the appearance of a candy cane. You could call him a candy cane creamsicle, if you wanted. You SHOULD NOT drop the creamsicle name, however. It lets people know that your snake (and any babies it produces) has emoryi blood in it.

I agree with Corncrazy.

Creamsicle just means it has emory blood in it and is not 100% pure corn. Depending on the amount - how far removed from the original corn X emory cross - will make a difference in how "creamsicle" looking it is. If the seller told you it was a cream than that designation should stay with it as well as any offspring that snake produces in the future. And also, just like any other morph, creams vary a lot in color and look so yours may not look like others, just like my anery may not look like someone elses.

Hope this helps. :)

Terri and Dianne,

Thanks! Now I understand about the creamsicles. He is very candy cane looking to me and I was out to look for an eventual-mate for him, thinking creamsicle but he looked nothing like the other creamsicles, so I waited and didn't buy him one.

Is there anyway to determine what may happen if I breed him with a candy cane female? I have no clue how that works with him being a hybrid.

Thank you both so much, you've helped so much!

Remember that the colors will change....

You really can't tell what will happen to him as he gets older, let alone what his offspring will look like. I'm afraid that predicting offspring is nothing more than a guess.

Just looking at the last pic, I's say your guy will likely have alot more base coloration delvelop, something in a yellow to light orange. Still a nice snake.
