Anyone here keep these? I've just saw some pics online and thought they were very pretty...but know little about them. Are they docile? How big do they get? Can anyone share pics of theirs?
I wonder if all the everglades babies are nippy? I like snakes but I don't like giving them my blood.I have one, I know very little on them but, the one I have only eats live bloody pinks and is a little fiesty and hates to be handled :/. But I think they all have different temperaments cuz my other two rats, anery and white sided rat snakes are sweet as can be, even sweeter then my corn snakes. I heard they get a little bit bigger then a corn snake but all three of mine are still babies to juvies, so couldn't tell you exactly.
Now that's a new one for me.I have an adult pair that you won't see very often.![]()
Now that's a new one for me.Are they pure everglades? They're beautiful!
If you mean mine, she was a juvie when I acquired her. I do need to take update pics. She is just out of bru and hungry and scary to handle though![]()
Tom those paradox whitesided are very nice!
Ok, that's it. I'm getting a pair of these.I saw this thread at work and have been waiting to get home to post some pics of mine! I have a pair of juvenile hypo everglades rats. They are not that friendly, but the male (first pic) is slightly less evil than the female. But I guess she is so pretty that she gets to be as evil as she wants. Just jaw dropping orange.

Do you think they'll settle down in time??
I don't know. I had another one that was a normal a long time ago and he was really mellow, still not as laid back as a corn but he was easy to handle and did not try to bite or escape. He was a bit older. These hypo ones are harder to handle than he was, they have a really strong feeding response. I got a f/t mouse in the tub for the female and she latched on to it and started eating but would not stop constricting my wrist, and when I finally got her off my hand she wrapped the frozen thawed mouse and killed it for like 5 minutes.
Thanks Jen! Unfortunately mine like to skunk when handled.![]()
Yea, they are not as "tame" as corns.
