Anything one should know about morphs?

Im currently interested in getting a corn snake, but want to know everything I can about them first. I have been looking through pictures and what not, and so many morphs are just stunning! But is there anything someone who is just getting started should know before purchasing one?

Are they prone to illness more?

are they the same temperment as the "origionals"?

Do they dye cornsnakes like they do baby chicks, baby turtles and poor fish?

Do people try and sell snakes for an outragiose amount for say, a common morph? ex. With my goldfish, I have seen people try and sell comet (long finned "feeders") as "Red Shubunkins" (shubunkins being calico long finned "feeders") and jacking up the price, when their really nothing special. I got my specimen for 6 cents out of the feeder tank. What kind of colors are harder or rarer to find in corn snakes that would justify a very high price? (Im kind of becoming partial to creamsicles, but I have a feeling I'll never find one around here! even at our annual rept show)

Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times before.. I cant seem to find this info.. please direct me where I can find it without bugging you guys! :D

oh ya.. and is there a picture guide to varieties and morphs? Because I have no idea what these whole "Part rat" "Miami" etc terms mean, or what you would be looking for.

does "part rat" mean a cross with a rat snake? Sorry.. Im just starting

The most common corns beside normals are amelanistic, snow, and anerythristic. These are also the least expensive. The creamsicles are hybrids (not pure corn)
The newer morphs are usually the most expensive, once a lot of people start producing them prices tend to come down.
I have never heard of anybody dyeing a corn snake. Anyone who did so would not last long. Reputation can make or break corn breeders.
Yes, people do sometimes try to sell common morphs for outrageous amounts. Your best bet is to get your snake from a reputable person - and research how to care for it before you get it.
