Are Red Cheeks a problem ?

Hi,

We have had our 6 month old Female Ghost corn for a month now and apart from pooping a lot (especially when handled) she has been great.

But today my son noticed that her cheeks were very red (Rosy). When I got home he told me and we had a look and only one side seemed red, now both sides are red again. She is feeding fine (2 pinkies for the past 2 feeds) and shed 2 weeks ago (in pieces). She also feed tonight.

Should we be concerned ? Is this normal ? Should we get a vet ?

Thanks.

I'm lost too. Is anyone messing with the snake when you're not around? Pics would be great. I've never heard of this. :shrugs:

I have seen "rosy" cheeks on several snakes. I tried to look through my pics to see if I could find a picture. I could not find the one I was looking for, but here is one of a snow mot. It's not a good close-up, but you can still see the rosy cheeks.

I found it!

Here is the picture I was looking for originally.

Is this what you are seeing on your little one?

I dunno. I think I've seen very young pastel ghost motleys with a blush to their cheeks, but I don't know about a six month old ghost. All my ghosts are '03s; they have yellow cheeks. :shrugs:

The anery I posted a picture of was a little over a year old and his cheeks were still rosy.

'Her cheeks too red and rosy to face the cannonball...'

Without seeing a picture, that sounds kind of like a normal color change for a ghost. Is it just pink but not swollen or abraded? 6 months is about when my grey motley ghost started coloring up... I posted a pic of him in photo gallery - 'pink & pretty' If you are having shedding issues (coming off in pieces) you need to boost your humidity, though.

Here's a pic of my anery motley with a glow to her cheeks.... but keep an eye on yours incase it's rubbing up against something.. :shrugs:
