I've been taking violin lessons for 4 years, minus these last 3 or so months. Starting my new job with its training threw a monkey wrench into my schedule, so it's been difficult to find time for lessons. Once I get my life back on track per se, I have been meaning to pick up the lessons again. I also just got a piano (same piano that I learned on in childhood) in anticipation of re-learning stuff from childhood and continuing on from there.

Oh wow! That is gorgeous!

I played French Horn during my 4 years of high school and also for a few years in college. Loved it! I was also in the marching band in my high school as well. Marching with a french horn wasn't easy! I also had a great moment, when I got to play one night with the Phoenix Symphonic Orchestra. That was awesome.

Bensmith, that guitar is nice. Great job on it. I bet you could put a different colored pick gaurd on it and really set it off.

i thank you kindly :) and i love the warmth of the colors.. natural wood.. and stain as i love refurbishing old but real wood stuff....

that is soo cool ann.... i know the feeling.. playing in front of other people is not the same as playing.. i made myself go to a local pub and the owner agreed to allow me to plug in lol.. i was so nervous i actually plugged the guitar in the wrong hole.. in the amp lmao.....

what would i give to find an electric violin and learn the distortion affect on it as opposed to an electric guitar.. vers a regular one... wow.. go for it and let me know how you dooooo lol...

I'm one of the few, the proud, the ever-whittling at our reeds, hugging our instruments to keep them warm in freezing cold concert halls, forever fiddling to keep in tune, oboists. I have a Loree oboe that's a year older than I am which I consider my baby.

I've fallen out of practice lately, mostly because the dogs will come running to "sing" along with the instrument and you cannot play any instrument, much less a double reed, while laughing.

This reminds me of the time I was making an ungodly racket by blowing into a harmonica in front of the family dog, a big Wiemaraner. He tilted his head back, made a perfect 'O' with his mouth, and howled like a coyote. It was hilarious and I could never get him to do it again. I sure do miss that dog. The harmonica I don't miss at all.

Mitch
