Arizona Snake breeders

I'm sure she has babies that aren't pictured!

Are there any reptile shows in your area? Are you able to get a snake shipped to you? Then you can buy from anyone! I would not recommend buying a snake from Petco. They are unestablished wholesale babies. You may get a healthy one, but just as likely you'll get a non-feeder or a snake that is infested with mites. I've not heard anything bab about BHB. If you look in the various headings here, you'll find one for Board of Inquiry. You can check out anyone's reputation there.

No reptile shows that I know of and yes getting a snake shipped to me is possible. I'm still looking at bhbs corn collection. Stupid question but about how large does the average corn snake get because I've heard anywhere from 3 to 6 feet.

I'd say more like four, maybe five. The Miamis and Upper Keys will stay smaller, I think, and there are some getting closer to six feet, but it's not so common. Most adult corns will be comfortable in a 20L for life. A 40 breeder would be luxurious.

More questions. Sorry. Because I live in ariZona and snakes need fourty to fifty percent humidity how do I raise humidity in the cage? And if my house temp is at 76 to 79 degrees do I need a heating/cooling pad?

You can raise the humidity by providing a large water bowl, or misting. It's best to see if the snake sheds ok, and if not, then raise the humidity. The snake should have an area a little warmer, say 80-85F. So you need a heating mat that covers about a quarter to a third of the bottom of the tank, and a thermostat or rheostat to control it (or it will get up over 110F) and a thermometer, preferable probed, to monitor the temp at the center of the heater.

20 liter tank? I thought people said gallon. How much does this whole setup cost and where could I buy it? And where can I get frozen mice?

20 _long_. Petco/Petsmart sell one with a sliding locking lid. It's better to buy the thermostat and thermometer and even the UTH on-line. You just pick the one you want and Google it. Petco/Petsmart both sell frozen mice, but they are expensive, but you're only feeding one snake. If you buy frozen mice in bulk, probably the smallest amount of pinks you could buy would be 25-50. Shipping is expensive and not that worth it for such a small amount.

Okay but does petco/petsmart sell UTHs and thermostats?

I checked it out and she has some amazing snakes but I'm not too interested in any of them.

She probably has a lot more that aren't pictured. I just ordered 2 adults from her and I think she had an '08 female Hypo Lavender for sale at the time...I can't remember what else. Where in AZ are you? I know of a couple decent reptile shops in Mesa (lived there for 18 years). There is a nice shop on Gilbert and University that usually has 25-30 corns ranging from the "basic" morphs to Lavenders and Bloodreds.

They sell UTHs but probably not the thermostats. I got mine here...

I actually live in Paradise Valley AZ. No good reptile stores here *that I know of*. Mesa wouldn't be a terrible drive but are you familiar with anywhere closer?

I found this one...

Jesse's Aquarium Pets & Reptiles
708 E Virginia Ave
Phoenix, AZ 85006
(602) 230-2130

I've never been there but it's worth a shot.
