AUCTION- Helping a fellow herper in need

Stephen Roylance is a really hardworking family man who has worked at a regular restaurant job for years. At the same time, he was also working hard for many years on establishing himself as a cutting edge producer of superior baby corns. His wife had also built up a home based child care center.

After the hurricane, not only did his snake room and many snakes blow away, but part of the roof to his home blew away and his home started growing mold, making it uninhabitable. So the day care business was also lost. They had to live with relatives for awhile and now live in an old RV on their property while the house is being fixed, which may take up to a year. So much more than long term breeding projects were lost - all that remains is the restaurant job and a long road back to where he was before. If anyone is able to help in any way, he and his family certainly deserve it.

I understand that there is a possibility that there might be a donation table for this project at the Tampa show April 9 - 10. If that happens, I will try to collect as much stuff as possible from our local herp society. Hopefully, drygoods will also be accepted as people could more easily ship t shirts, books, supplies, etc, compared to live herps.

If I hear that it is a go, I will post here in case people want to ship anything for the show. Maybe other herp societies will want to send something too.

I would be happy to put up a snake or two for auction, but I can't ship . If anyone in the maryland area wants to donate the shipping part PM me and together we can help out(I will at least match your shipping cost in value). or Kathy if you are willing to offer a couple of my snakes for the same purpose at your table in philly this year. Let me know. Asuming thats ok with the hosts of the fund drive.

That's a great idea Kathy! I just sent off an email to the President of our local herp society as well, seeing what can can pull together for the Roylance's.

I challenge everyone here to do the same!

Stephen is, above all, a cornsnake guy and it may be up to us (the cornsnake community) to get the word out there.

Donations can be accepted in several forms. Cash is always welcome, but TSE has gotten the ball rolling. They have put up this auction on their forums to help out. To my knowledge ANY animals may be donated for auction support! I haven't talked to Chris yet myself, but I don't think he would be opposed to other items being donated for auction as well (ie. drygood, supplies, home electronics, collectables, etc...you get the idea!)

It probably wouldn't hurt to post the auction site on other forums and sites you all may visit as well. Please check first and make sure it hasn't already been posted and you might want to get permission from the admin and/or mods first.

Post a brief explanation and link on your OWN website.

This is REAL and exposure will be key!

Yes, any items may be donated for auction they need not be animals or reptile related. We are also looking into the possibility of accepting Money Orders and after ironing out the details I'll be posting the information on the auction site.

Kathy is correct, there is a good possibility that we will be hosting a table at Tampa that has been donated by Tony Cueto and we're actively looking for donations to be brought to the show. If however you will not be attending the show or cannot arrange shipping please consider donating animals or goods to the auction forum. We can either arrange to deduct the cost of your shipping from the winning bid or we can post the animals at auction without shipping included. Of course if you are able to donate the animals in addition to covering the shipping that would be great as well. Please contact me at [email protected] or private message me at TSE forums so we can discuss the way to best enable you to donate.

Please do get the word about the auction out via links from other sites...but please remember do not forgot to get permission first. There are sites that have policy rules regarding donation solicitation and advertising.

Above all please feel free to bid or donate any amount, we all have different financial situations...every little bit helps and your support in any capacity is greatly appreciated.

I don't own a house and this is just a curiosity question. If homeowners does not cover the hurricane damage. But you know that Flood insurance will would it not be logical to cover those bases? As in my opinion Florida seems like a high hurricane risk area. Is it that much more costly?

A few issues regarding payment and specifics have been brought to my attention and I would like to share new revised rules regarding all auctions listed on our forums. This should take care of any and all issues, but if you still would like to address any concerns or have any suggestions for us please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]

I would also like to thank everyone who has helped and continues to help. Thanks again, here are the new revised details and rules:

ALL BIDS WILL INCLUDE SHIPPING COSTS. THIS WAY THERE ARE NO HIDDEN FEES IN AN ATTEMPT TO CURB DEAD BEAT BIDDERS. IF A SELLER TRIES TO CHARGE MORE AFTER THE END OF AN AUCTION, PLEASE CONTACT ME IMMEDIATELY.

BID INCREMENTS WILL BE $1 (ONE DOLLAR) OR MORE. THESE AUCTIONS ARE FOR A GOOD CAUSE, THERE IS NO REASON TO HAGGLE USING SMALLER DENOMINATIONS.

THOSE LISTING AUCTIONS ARE ASKED TO PLEASE SET STARTING BIDS TO COVER SHIPPING COSTS, THIS WAY ALL BIDS ABOVE AND BEYOND YOUR STARTING BID WILL BE EASILY DISTINGUISHED AS A DONATION.

THOSE LISTING AUCTIONS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR COLLECTING FUNDS AND FORWARDING THE DONATION PORTION OF THE FINAL BID TO THE ROYLANCES. ONCE YOU HAVE SUBTRACTED THE SHIPPING COST THE REMAINDER CAN BE SENT TO THE ROYLANCES VIA PAYPAL OR MONEY ORDER.

THOSE LISTING AUCTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO LIST THE METHODS OF PAYMENTS THEY ACCEPT IN EACH LISTING SO POTENTIAL BIDDERS ARE AWARE OF THESE DETAILS BEFORE BIDDING.

WE ASK THAT YOU ACCEPT AT LEAST TWO OF THE FOLLOWING PAYMENT METHODS: PAYPAL, PERSONAL CHECK, MONEY ORDER, CERTIFIED CHECK, WIRE TRANSFER.

ALL AUCTIONS WILL CLOSE AT 8PM ONE WEEK (7 DAYS) AFTER THE ITEM HAS BEEN LISTED. THE END DATE MUST BE LISTED IN THE TITLE OF YOUR AUCTION, PLEASE USE PREVIOUS AUCTIONS AS AN EXAMPLE.

DEAD BEAT BIDDERS WILL BE HUNTED AND FORCED THROUGH A WOODCHIPPER. FEET FIRST.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, OR SUGGESTIONS PLEASE CONTACT ME AT [email protected]

THANK YOU!

Florida International Reptile Show

It has been confirmed that a table has been donated for the Roylance Fund at the Florida International Reptile Show 10th anniversary April 9 and 10th.

If anyone would like to donate any animal(s) or drygood(s) please contact either Kathy Love, Jim Keenan or myself. Items do not have to be reptile related, and any contributions are very much appreciated.

A special thank-you to Mr. Cueto for donating the table and thank-you all again for the support you've shown.

MLechner: Thank you for posting this thread.

Sherry: As children, we're (most of us anyway) are taught that if we can't say something nice, to not say anything at all. I have nothing to say right now... Unbelievable...

I've just placed a snake up for auction on Reptibid to benefit the Roylance family. Check him out, if you'd like here. I figure the more publicity, the better, right?

Just thought you guys would like to know there are some very nice auctions posted in the Roylance fund section of our site that are ending tomorow. Specimens donated by Jim @ Home Grown Herps as well as Ben Seigel.

I'd like to also take this opportunity to thank those who have contributed thus far. Thank you!
