Okay, yesterday I had the absolute best theater going experience of my life; I saw James Cameron's "Avatar"!!. I have to say, for all those who haven't seen this movie, I strongly advise you go see it..It was BEE-UTIFUL!!. I saw it in Imax 3D and it truly is like being there. I've never been so into a movie before in my whole life. From the get-go it reaches you and pulls you into the world that is Pandora. The casting was perfect, the effects were perfect, and the script was PERFECT. I almost had to cry during certain parts, and not once did I find the animation to be unreal in any form...To sum it up in one word; EPIC. Everything about it is beyond comprehension; from the intricacies of the humans hair growing in relation to the time span through the film, to the way the glass gets nicked on the giant ships. It's too real to describe, but I can say in confidence that this film is 10x worth the 14$ ticket price..Pure movie magic!

I think the only thing I didn't like about it was "unobtanium"

seriously?? unobtanium?
I hear you, and the backdrop to why it's so valuable was very unclear to me..In fact, much of how they colonized Pandora was a mystery, but I think in the long-run it suited the movie to not focus on those details. Otherwise it could have potentially saturated the rawness of the film, which to me is what made me love it so much..Absolutely can't wait for the DVD though. All the extra stuff will be amazing to watch, and also I think the expectations will be different. In the Imax you need to see the grandness of it all, whereas at home you can take the time to dissect all the little details....BTW, the use of the "B" word in this film was mint!. Sometimes it can sound cliche to swear in films with so much intensity, but in this film I thought they nailed it..Especially the part when Michelle Rodriguez' character was like "Your not the only one with a gun *****"....SO awesome!!.

Ah yes. Avatar. My new favorite movie ever (and I'm a movie buff so that means alot, I'm picky!). My pcs background? Avatar. Biggest, most centered movie poster in my room? Avatar. CD in my car? Avatar soundtrack. How many times have I seen the movie already? 4.

Yeah... I'd say I'm obsessed.

I know how you feel...just saw it for the 3rd time tonight.

Love that movie....soo much.

hahaha i too definitely had a chuckle at the "unobtanium." i was like "oh great, this is gonna be lame, but lame in 3d!" but, i was definitely proven wrong. it was THE coolest movie.

however, i'm holding out for ALICE IN WONDERLAND 3D oh my gooooood! which i was so privileged to see the trailer for before avatar.

lol..My friend Paul is the same way. He works 2 jobs, one being at a Toyota plant. He went from a night shift at the plant straight to the Imax, and then right back to another night shift. Didn't sleep for 3 days straight just to see this movie, and it wasn't even his first time seeing it lol..Since then he's seen it again, and he's going to watch at least once more this week...Pure insanity!!...Definitely have to watch it at least once more myself though, before it leaves Imax. Once it's gone that will be it, so I want to make sure I get my fix :)..

That movie did look really cool, but my only complaint is that it seems to follow the exact same trend as Willie Wonka..Also think it might give me nightmares lol. Something about the Alice in Wonderland cartoon has always creeped me out, and in 3D it looks even creepier!.

I only watched it online, and I can't say I'm much into blue people, but I'm sure the 3D effects would be worth it.

I also just finished 2012, and again, not much for an online movie, but I bet at an IMAX it would be awesome!

I saw it.
I liked it.
It was one of the few movies I would go out of my way to see again.

Without a doubt the PRETTIEST film I have ever seen.

Special effects were spectacular, I've never seen anything like it.

But I thought the plot was simplistic and the story lacking.

You guys are getting caught up I all the wrong stuff. The story was predictable, unobtainium is a pretty silly name, I agree with all that stuff. But DID YOU SEE HER LEGS? She is so much like my wife.

I thought it was a good movie. But I really don't get why every one seems to think it is the best movie ever. To me it was a lot like dances with wolves.... just with aliens. And they spiced it up with a little war for oil. Oops, did I say oil I meant unobtanium.

Oh, also I saw it in 3-D on an imax screen and was very disappointed that it did not have one dragon thing fly out of the screen towards the crowd. It seemed like it was not really made to be a 3-D movie and they just added the 3-D after post production.

That's not the kind of 3-D this is :nope: That's the childish, stuff-popping-out-at-you 3-D. This is the more recent adult 3-D where they give the scenes real depth.

I'm going to see it for the third time tomorrow :) I LOVE this movie. It looks like they spent SO much time on the details, it's amazing. Like the lizard that flies around? Yeah, it walks like they studied chameleons for hours. Sure, the plot wasn't very original, and the conversations were lacking... "Come to papa"? Yeah. But it was a first of its kind movie, and they were more focused on the feelings and world than that stuff.
And @ Billybobob, I'm REALLY glad they didn't have things flying out at you. That always gives me a headache, and I usually end up taking off the glasses. I think the 3D in this movie wasn't to make things fly out at you, but to give the whole thing a new dimension, like you are there with them, and not just watching. I wish more movies that use 3D would do this, rather than making random things fly at my face.
Also, I own a t-shirt. Love this movie.

LOL...But can your wife take down a fleet of Mech's with Poison dipped arrow's?...That is the question!.

Could not agree more!. I've never been to a 3D showing before this so I don't have anything to compare it to, but for me it felt perfect. It was nice to just be a bystander in an epic adventure, instead of feeling like the world was trying to reach to me. It's the subtlety that gave it power, and for what it's worth I feel like they did choose points to have things jump out at you. It just wasn't the cliche monsters, and was more of the environment (ie. falling pedals, moving ferns, etc).

I don't see how using 3-D to its full potential is a childish way to use it.

I do get what your saying about depth though. But there are really only a few scenes that really benefited from the added depth. Like the opening scene where Jake gets out of the stasis pod it did help to show the vastness of the interstellar ship. But seeing the movie on a regular screen did not take anything away from the movie for me and your eyes don't have to readjust every time they switch scenes. In the 3-D version there were things that just seemed out of place in 3-D like the still image pics Jake looks at In the 3-D version the pics are 3-D but they should not be.

I just think the 3-D stuff seems like it was added as an after thought. the only things that really seemed like they popped out at you were the floating seed things and the ash from when home tree was burning So they did do the popping out 3-D stuff that you seem to think is childish. And if they did that why not add a dragon thing popping out during one of the battle scenes or when Jake is first flying his dragon.

The best 3-D movie I ever saw was the Captain Eo at Disneyland and that was back in the 80's that movies 3-D graphics was actually better than any of the newer 3-D movies I have seen.
