Baby blizzard corn not doing so hot, resurges and refusals!

Great news! Keep her in the isolation setup for at least a month or two, or more. Take more time than you think is needed before going back to the normal setup and feeding schedule.

Good luck!

Oh that's grt news!! I took the advice re: slitting the skin on the backs of the pinkie & fed my 14wk old male & what a difference it made. He went right for it!

As far as Cindy goes. She is in her 5 gallon tank for 2wks now, I just change the water at night & have her upstairs in our room where the temps are much better & so much more quite. I have 3 kids under 6 & they are loud. Little Dani is used to it, but I bought him at 6wks old at an exotic pet store. So he was used to being pick up & having people look in on him during store hrs. So he adjusted beautifully! He is beautiful & getting so big. I am not trying to be concerned for Cindy, I believe the stress from my kids wanting to hold her & watch her eat is what did this. So now she is away from all of this. I will keep her here for another 2mths.

Kathy I placed an order for the NutriBac to put in her water. If you have any suggestions, tips please feel free to add them here for me. Her survival is very important to my family. :)

Thank you!

I agree as well, to cover the feeding bucket. My snakes don't like to be watched at all. When I got my little rescue he refused meals and regurgitated as well. I waited for 7 days after he regurg. to feed him again and he got a very small pinkie. I left him alone for 4 days, he did just fine. Then 4 days later when he was due to eat again, he refused his pinkie. He went back in his tank and I did not mess with him for 4 days, then I tried again-SUCCESS! Four Days seemed to be the magic number for us! Good Luck with your baby-Let us know what happens.

** My yearling Blizzard just regurgitated in her water dish the other day---that was the most foul smelling mess EVER!!**

I don't like to put the NB in the water if there is any other way to get it into the snake (inject into food, dust on food, force feed water and NB with eyedropper, etc). That is because the NB goes bad in the water within 24 hours or so. If you must do it that way, I would take away the water for at least a day so the snake is very thirsty. Then mix the NB is a small amount of water and give it to him. Then throw it all away after 24 hours. It is wasteful, but will work if you can't do it any other way.

Be sure to keep the bottle of NB VERY dry - if you spill any water into it, it will go bad quickly. If you keep it cool and dry, it lasts a long time.

Thanks Amber! :)

Kathy I should receive it on Monday, & will feed her on Tues. night. So I will inject NB into her food. :) I should only give her a pinkie head? Also w/ the NB how long should I give this to her? Should I also feed it to my 14wk old? (he is a grt eater)

Thanks a bunch! :D

I don't use vitamins. But it couldn't hurt as long as you only use a small amount a few times per year. Use one of the reptile vitamin / mineral supplements per their instructions. But if you only use it every few months, then any excess minerals or fat soluble vitamins should have time to be excreted before the next dose. Unfortunately, not as much research has been done on nutrition for herps as for cats, dogs, people, etc. So the min. and max amounts are not really known. Too much is just as bad (or worse) than not enough.

Yes, I would start with pinkie heads if it is a regurger. Go slowly as far as increasing size of food items.

I always give a couple of doses of NB to all new hatchlings and new acquisitions, just as insurance.

I've had really good luck with putting the NB in my snakes water. My older, snake doesn't mind the added taste difference in the water. And I have been putting a decent dose of NB in his water since he regurged a long time while ago. (Which helped him and my newest addition recover from regurges.)

I don't change his water out every 24 hours, however being that the powder is bacteria its probably not good to keep it sitting for to long.

I've run out of NB and I guess I shall order some more from kathy soon.

Well, you can't argue with success!

If it is working for you, then it sounds great! Besides, if it "wastes" more NB in the water (as opposed to injecting food or tubing the snake directly), then you will have to buy more NB sooner, lol!

But it really starts to smell pretty yucky to me after about 24 hours or so. I have never left in longer than that because of the smell. Since I didn't want to toss it after 24 hours, I didn't continue to use it that way. But I won't suggest changing your method if it works for you.

Keep up the good work - glad the snake is doing better!

Kathy you are wonderful. I got the NB gave it to Candi w/ a pinkie head, a day later she had a beautiful complete shed! 4 days later gave her a newborn f/t/p w/ NB she kept it down. & 3 nights ago gave her 2 newborn f/t/p w/ NB on them & she inhaled them. She is coming out for handling. At first it was rough, but now she is back to where she was. TG! I also give my other corn NB w/ his meal as well!

Also I love the newsletter you sent w/ the coloring pic for the kids. Grt idea. Hubby made copies for the kids to color. I really like the newsletter will you be doing them again? If so count me in. Funny when I bought our first corn 3mths ago the guy helping me suggested you book so I bought it. Love it!

Again thanks so much for all the replies. She is back to good health again!! :)

Glad the NB is helping.
