Bad News

Enouth corns yet?
bad news, it would of cost me 500 pounds to have her opperated on, her gut came back out and was worse. they wanted half the money upfront, i had onyl 50, we could of got the rest to them in 3 days, but they wouldnt, i had to have her put to sleep. i am so upset, to tell you ther truth, i havnt stopped crying since we left the vet, that was 3 hours ago, we couldnt wait either, the lobger she was left the more pain she would be in. the only good point to this is i have 19 healthy eggs, im keeping the one that looks exact liek her!!!!

tghis is what it wass like last night, times it by 3 now

i knwo i put it in a seperta [ost, but im just puttingit here :crying:

I'm sooooo sorry!! ::Give you a big hug::   Vets are so mean when it comes to money! I can't believe he/she wouldn't make some type of payment plan for you! :twoguns:

i know, we asked for a payment plan, we would of gave 50 today.... another 150 in 3 days about... and then the rest a week later, or half anyway!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your girl. You tried with the Vet, and that's the best you can do. I hope the eggs do well for you.

I'm so sorry about what happened. Rich posted a pic on here of a female who had prolapsed and I think he said that they rarely survive. It's good that you tried to help her (greedy vets make me mad) and that she is no longer in pain. I'll think good thoughts for the eggs you have from her.

i am so happy about the eggs, i happy she had a succesful bunch. but yeah, it got worse by mrong. she sort of well "sucked it backe in" but in the morning she must of tried to push the egg out and it got worse :(

so sorry your vet wouldn't allow a payment plan, we had a cat cost £300 to fix a broken leg years ago, and were able to pay weekly, but I have to agree that vet fees do seem too high anyway at times, but wouldn't the PDSA help at all?

so sorry, you did the right thing though. let's all just wait to see what hatches for you in a while, no real replacement, but a start :)

i could possibly have snows.... i was gonna keep one, but now i want a replica of her... or if my mum loves me enouth, she will let me keep 2

it hasnt put me off breeding, sometime this yeah im going to look forr a 2000 or 2001 female

I'm so sorry for your loss. If you are going to attempt breeding again, next time please provide a more appropriate egg nest.

You might not like this, but I'm going to say it anyway. If you are going to breed again, you'd be best to have found a local reptile vet who's fees you will be able to afford if there is trouble again. Maybe explain what happened this time and see if they would give emergency help with a payment plan already agreed? seems egg-binding is taking females from both experienced and novice breeders alike, so could easily happen again with a new female

very sorry to hear

I am very sorry to hear about your loss. I know what i would feel like if that happened to one of my girls. I really hope all the eggs make it and you get one that looksa lot like her.

On another note, I do agree the vet should have worked out a payment plan, especcially if you have been a regular customer, BUT you do have to realize that is how they make their living. I have friend whos sister is a vet and she used to do a lot of work on payment plans. At one point, there were so many dead beats that she could barely keep up with the operating expenses. I know it sucks, but you have got to look at it from the vets point of view as well.

Good luck with the eggs!

actully with the next snake im getting insurence, i was actully looking at it 3 days before i got her, i wish i got it then!!! im getting insurence for my boy very soon now, and when the baby is old enouth to have it, i will get it for her aswell, and the next adult female i get.
if i had of got the insurbnce it would of cost me £35. they would of classified what happend as a prolapsed gut, so it would come under egg binding, and they would do it. and i dont want to change my vet, becuase he is the only one near me that is speacilised. but im definatly getting insurence, its a must, especilly breeder females

as for this, it wasnt my nest box, she managed to get 20 eggs out!!!!!
the reason she prolapsed was becuase snakes aggs are strung toghtehr like sausages are, the last egg wasnt connected to all the other ones, so it got left behing, right it the top of her body, once she manged to get it down, it got behind her gut, when she kept trying to push it she prolapsed

im not actully regular with him, hes the one i choose, hes the best around, he got recommnede to my by a few other owners i know.

i do understand what they mean tho, they did say that some people get it done, then the vets are in debt becuase they never pay them, but we promised we would of had it by monday, and 50 on the day
