Battery powered heater?

My power just went out. Luckily I have a friend who had power that I took my corn's tank to. I don't anticipate this happening often, but I do live in Michigan which is known for crazy weather and it gets super cold in the winter. Any suggestions or ideas for small battery powered heaters or battery packs that have outlets?

You can get a UPS battery backup-they're designed, usually to run computers, and for something as low powered as as single UTH, I imagine they'd go for awhile. My only concern is that most of them beep incessantly when the power is out, and that might be really annoying to the snake.

I was gonna suggest a UPS too. Designed to run anywhere from 300-1000 watts for 5-30 minutes depending, should be able to run a UTH for quite a while. At least a few hours to half a day one would think? Not sure how long power outages last in your area though.

I'll definitely look into that. My power is back on now :) It lasted about 3 hours, but there was an outage earlier this week in another part of my town that lasted two days. I guess in those cases I could use friends for back-up.

For the snakes, I'd buy 40 hour heat packs from Superior Shipping, and a few deli cups with holes, if you don't have them. Then, when your power goes out, when your temps of the snake enclosure get to 65-70ish and the power isn't back on (or immediately if you fed recently) open a heat pack, shake it, pop it in the deli cup, and put that in the snake's viv. It will produce heat for more than 24 hours. The heat pack itself gets quite hot, and the deli cup keeps the snake from laying directly on it.
