SLUGS. :eek1: Hypo Lav X Hypo Lav

Bummer for me, but what do you do?! 21 eggs, 1 seemingly fertile, 20 slugs. They're gorgeous in their own right, but . . . :shrugs: . . . I think that gives me my fill for the Spring. The milk and MBK got a snack today and the students were enthralled (and creeped out a bit) by it. Not too many Hypo Lavs for me this year.

The female had 15 gorgeous eggs last season with a different male. The male Hypo Lav sired 30 total eggs last year with only 2 slugs. What gives?! Again, not a big deal, part of the game. Something didn't hit quite right between these two, stars didn't align or something.

Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks for the comments, just please don't offer sympathy. It's part of what I "signed up" for! I'm more practical than anything. bekers, no clue, probably just one of those things.

Wow! that sucks. We know the feeling.Kinda like getting kicked in the gut.
Nothing like seeing a white shadow through the lid of the lay box . . . what a high!! . . . and then seeing a clutch of slugs . . . kick in the gut for sure. :)

Well

Thats some of the ups and downs of this hobby, last year my female stripe lav layed slugs and was laying there belly up! Hopefully this year is a little better.Anyway better luck on the next clutch!

Sorry to hear Brent. That would have been a very nice clutch. Things like this stink but I guess it is part of the game. We didn't make the rules we just have to live by them. Again, Sorry Brent.

Either parent experience a heat spike? That's the only thing I can think of... Of course we'll never know everything. :spinner:
