Hi guys...just an intro to my snake. Name's drey, sex : M, but i suspect F.
i've been told he's a blood red, but my money's on normal still. i dont know what colour his head was when young, as i just got him about 2 months ago. he's around 1 1/2 yrs old..50 inches according to the snake measuring program.

he just shed today! surprise surprise as he just shed last month. while eating! that was amazing...after his first mouse, he suddenly shoved his nose against the wall of his viv and held it there pushing with such force his whole body vibrated!
just as my friend and i were wondering what in the wide world could he be doing ( as he wasn't rubbing up and down, just acting as if he wanted to bore straight through the wall!), he pulled back, and lo and behold, a flap of skin had peeled back from his head.

So, with that flap of skin loose ( and looking like an absurb cap), he proceeded to down the second mice in a hurry, though i really doubt that he could see much as the flap was obscuring his eyes. the greedy thing. After that, he proceeded to slither around the viv, and got out of his skin beautifully! all in one piece. it's hanging out to dry now, i plan on keeping it.

It just made my day =) plus the fact that he ate, coz he's been refusing food for a while now.

By the way..could anyone tell me how to post pictures? i've tried but so far all my files are too big! how do i cut them down to size?

but ive never had a blood red so dont trust me :p

Looks like a normal to me...but I've also never had a bloodred. I've never seen one in person either.

Rich? Serp? Marcel? (And anyone else I've missed that is "up" on bloodreds) What do you think?

Looks like a striped corn to me. Blood Reds aren't going to have that visible striped pattern on them.

Normal Striped

Looks exactly like my male normal striped, Diablo. =)

Bloodreds don't have the yellow down the sides as far as I've seen in adult BR pics.

Taceas..

beautiful colours ! how old is the one on the bottom pic? looks around the same size as mine.
the reason i asked is, that so far..what the guy who sold me this fella has told me so far has been all wrong! he's supposed to be a year and a half.

Re:

Mine was a yearling when I got mine. He was a small guy, I wondered the exact same thing. I thought I had been fooled into a young young snake.

And he is a slow grower and even now, as a two year old is a lot smaller than my other adult snakes. But that didn't affect his breeding ability, as he gave me 13 fertile eggs this spring. =D

Here's a pic of him when I first got him:

So he has filled out some, but length wise he's still shorter than all of my others. But it doesn't seem to affect him any. Yours doesn't sound that badly off. If he's 50 inches, he's a heck of a lot longer than my male. He's only around 36 inches. He's a shrimpy guy. But I love him. The older he gets, the more grey scales he gets on his head. =P

I also found out mine was het for amel when the eggs hatched, so it was a welcome surprise. =D
