Not a problem. I'm not sure on exact numbers because I didn't keep the receipts once everything was built. But, I can give rough numbers. Let me think...
$200 in 1/4" plexiglas
$10 in paint
$10 in velcro
less than $50 in hardware
$15 on bedding
$40 on decorations
So total I spent about $325 on seven cages. That's a little over $45 per cage.
I had a lot of extras laying around the shop so I didn't need to buy any wood/staples/glue and only the final coat of paint.
The value of wood I salvaged rounded out to about $500 in savings alone. So, I think I made out pretty good.
There's a 1/16" gap from the inset hinges on the sides as well as a tiny crack at the centers to allow the hinged doors to clear the center post. There's plenty of air flow between the two.
