It's Jager time!
Beaux just shed tonight. Complete and perfect as usual. However, whilst unrolling his shed I smelt something vomit enducing... FISH! Like the fishiest fish you can imagine combined with strong cat urine. It's truley is revolting.

Now why would a snakes shed skin smell THAT bad? His body smells like snakes usually smell, of nothing much really. What on earth is that building up under his skin waiting to come out and smell so bad? I remember Clementine once having a shed that smelt quite bad, although not as bad as Beaux's. I have never had any other snake produce such a smelly shed before. I am fearing it may be linked to IBD, or perhaps a different health issue? I have tried to dig up anything possible online, but no no avail. Any insight whatsoever would be much appreciated. I will be calling my vet first thing in the morning as he has dealt with my snakes for the last 5 years now and knows what we are going through...

I'm not a doctor but I'll take a look.

I have had bad smelling sheds before Elle. Usually they were really fresh and kind of wadded up tight and I unrolled them. I think it is just the enzymes that help to loosen the skin.

My uneducated guess.

That would be my uneducated guess as well Wade. But this is stinking the whole room out! I don't think it's within the normal smelly shed ranges! :(

Not every thing that smells bad is bad. Sometimes you just have to not think about it and go for it.

From a zoologist, it sounds like the enzymes as stated above, plus some of the juices from the shedding of the anal scale.

Is there such a thing as shed examinations LOL. Do you think I would get a discount for the consultation because the thing in question is not alive?!

Fishy anal? geeeeez! Would you dive in there Wade?!

I buy you books and send you to school and that is the best you can come up with? Me and that Scottish Chick figured out that much.

lucky. my boa poops in her sheds. i wish i could unroll them without thinking of myself as a messed up individual. but to some people i am one anyways for keeping reptiles. hmmm. heck its worth a shot i guess.
