BloodRed Myth or Truth

DeprivedSnakeLover

Lover Of The Bloods!
Hey Guys. well I'm shopping for a corn and i like the look of the bloodred and as i researched this morph some sources say that the bloodred is prone to early blindness and bad feeding habits. is this true or is it a myth? :eatpointe
thanks

I am not sure of the blindness part..... but I know when they were First coming out as a morph that they did have the reputation of being bad feeders but I think they have been outcrossed and recrossed so much now that they arent any more or less prone to being bad feeder than any other morph.

I've never heard of the blindness thing and I've been around repotile message boards for a few years. I'd say that's a myth for sure.

When they first became available, yes they did have a rep for poor feeding and failure to thrive. However, as Cat Eyed Lady has said, we're a few years down the line and the gene pool is very much stronger. My Bloodred is one of my most reliable eaters and is a strapping lass.

I'd say that you can buy with confidence.

I have two bloods, both are my best eaters and my fastest growers. They are also both very sweet snakes. lol

I have 4 bloods, 1 amel blood, 2 hypo bloods, 1 anery blood, 1 striped anery blood, and 1 butter blood.
They all eat like the world is ending!

Thanks Guys

Thanks Guys i was worried for a sec because i pre-ordered it but when i read my 3rd book on corns it mentioned that so thanks!!!:eatsmiley

I have 2 hypo bloods and the try to eat everything they see, like my hand and my leg and even my shirt!

I have never heard anything about blindness in ANY corn morphs.

If you read the sections about the bloodreds again carefully, it is possible that the author did write about their early history (small babies and eggs, but large numbers of eggs, and babies that didn't always want to start feeding - in the early days, anyway), and that it was either left unclear about their present status, or you might have missed that part. It is too bad that this difficulty from way back the 1980s and early '90s is still being passed around today.

Did you know that stripes had a reputation of low fertility way back when they were new? For some reason, their inauspicious beginning has faded away, since it is no longer true. But the bloodred history lives on, lol!

Thought it might be a mix-up...

since I couldn't think of what "early blinding" would be - "late-blinding" is not normal either, lol!
