I have never heard anything about blindness in ANY corn morphs.
If you read the sections about the bloodreds again carefully, it is possible that the author did write about their early history (small babies and eggs, but large numbers of eggs, and babies that didn't always want to start feeding - in the early days, anyway), and that it was either left unclear about their present status, or you might have missed that part. It is too bad that this difficulty from way back the 1980s and early '90s is still being passed around today.
Did you know that stripes had a reputation of low fertility way back when they were new? For some reason, their inauspicious beginning has faded away, since it is no longer true. But the bloodred history lives on, lol!
