Bloody escape artist!

Well, I literally just finished revamping my anery-thing's cage. She's 31grams and housed in her permanent, 55gal home. As this is a fish tank, it is taller than it is wide, so I had had it on it's side, to give her more space to roam around. Apparently though, she is now strong enough to push the lid off of it near the bottom (as I could only clamp the top and the sides) as she has escaped twice in the last 3 days. >_< Thus, the tank is now properly upright, with the lid clamped on each side AND the top weighted with a 6lb rock.

So... I have learned my lesson to not try and be creative with a large tank and an ever growing snake.

With regards to the escapes, I have no idea what I did to be so fortunate as to find her within hours. The first time she was sitting in the middle of my kitchen, this last time she was tucked in a drawer of the dressor her tank sits upon.

Darn, I thought that was a good idea, the tank on it's side. It still makes sense, just need to secure it.

the problem is that securing the bottom also makes it harder to get the lid off. I haven't had a chance to get fancy and make a hinged door/lid yet. I may still do it as those extra inches make a huge difference overall with regards to space.

I have a tank that came with my snake, it has a lid that slides into place and locks with tabs on the front. A lid like that would work if you make it so that it slides upward to remove.

Yeah, I got lucky once two when I was an newbe!! Good idea for the rock. When my girl was in her 5 gallon, I kept a huge geode on top of her cage lid.
