Blue baby

They were fed two nights ago, so time to change the paper towels. I got out Phaethon, Zeke (the dog) came up for a sniff (which he always does--he's a nosy dog), I let him sniff her because I know from experience with the yearlings that he won't bite them, but that they will bite him if they want. And as I was saying to him, "This one's feisty, she will bite your nose." She DID! I didn't expect her to do it so fast! Usually, the bigger ones wait until they've been snuffled a little, but this girl didn't bother with the wait. She bit him and hung onto his nose! And off he ran. I'm sure some think I shouldn't torture the snakes like this (or the dog), but let me tell you that it is hiLARious to see an 85 lb dog doing the flinstone scramble on the concrete floor trying to get away from a 10 g snake. He hasn't come back in the office in the half hour since. :grin01: Anyway. Phaethon's not usually THAT cranky when I'm changing paper towels, so I inspected her and she's just starting to go blue. You can't tell in the pic, but I think that's the source of her irritability.

Did she give a sharp hiss when she struck? The hiss is the cutest thing, to me. :)

I do too - it's almost like a 'spit' sound!

What a pretty little one! I love the shades of pink~

He remembers!

I just had to add that tonight when I took the little sandwich containers out and walked toward the kitchen trash can to change paper towels (as I have now learned, baby snakes are just like baby humans--all they ever do is poop!), Zeke worriedly high-tailed it out of the study and stayed many body lengths away from the evil sandwich containers, nervously keeping his eyes on them at all times! :grin01:

That's funny! I know what you mean by babies pooping though. Mine seem to poop, wait until I change the paper towels, then poop somemore. Everyday! Your poor dog is now traumatized for life!

No indeed! Not like your blue at all! Just unremarkable but surprisingly cranky blue!

Hehe, miscommunication I think; I thought you meant this baby is a blue motley, and I only wanted to say that my blue motley looks different... I do see why it may have sounded like a weird comment
