Blue in the face chondro photos

TrpnBils

22 is not enough snakes
This is easily one of the gentlest snakes we own... and since he's recently matured he's got more on his mind than food. I wanted to take some photos tonight and since he's the only one that didn't eat last night he's a prime candidate to take out and photograph!

He's probably our most plain and boring looking chondro, but I love the blues that come out in him under the right lighting and he's certainly got more of it around his mouth than any of our others.

OMD! If THAT'S "plain and boring", I'm not sure I could handle drop-dead-gorgeous and exciting!

I think he's exquisite!

He's the kind of snake that makes me want a green one :).

Looks just like mine, but bigger! I hope mine is that vivid when it is bigger. I love the blue on green. Beautiful.

How old is yours, and has it changed yet? Ours usually start changing at a year, but we had one start as early as three months last time!

I agree with Sarah

What camera do you use? And lighting and such?

Camera is a Sony DSC-R1. I like seeing how far I can push this thing since it's not an SLR. Most of the people that I work with own SLR cameras and don't know how to use 90% of what's on it...they just have it because they think having a big, heavy, expensive camera will make them take better photos. The kind of camera isn't that important, IMO...I think anybody can take any type of photo if they know how to use their camera well...

The lighting is my favorite part of this setup...everybody thinks it's some big fancy setup but it's really pretty pathetic :santa:. I had the log propped up on a bucket that had dried rabbit blood on the side of it from one that I thawed out the other night. The light was a clamp light with a GE Reveal 100W bulb (~4/$1 at Wal Mart), and the black backdrop is actually my kitchen in shadow...lol. I shut off all my lights except for the clamp light and by making the focal point the snake, the room behind it gets blacked out. Pretty fancy, huh?

Don't get me wrong, I do like him, but I've been spoiled by our oddball ones :) We hatched out this "blaze" one a few years ago

and we've also hatched two out from this clutch that are "mite phase" and look totally bizarre if you're only used to seeing the ones like I posted in this thread (actually the mite phase thread is here http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107063 - it's the second snake in that post).

So, relatively speaking, this one's pretty plain :)

DAMN :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Are they hard to care for? I would really have one later if i get more experienced with snake keeping =D

Brilliant looking pics and a killer snake! Some day I want a GTP!

Shoot me a PM when you're ready. We'll have some hatching out here in about two weeks and they should be ready to go by March or April. :grin01:

They're a little more particular than corns in terms of care, but they're not overly difficult either. I'd say they're definitely not a beginner's snake but they're not impossible either. You'll get tagged for sure, so be ready!

Heaven help me! There's a reptile expo coming up mid-January. What if I see one of those pretties, there? Oi! Good thing I have no clue how to care for this kind of snake. Knowing that will save my pocketbook some stress :). I LOVE this big green snake of yours. Just love him.

Haha okay, i have no problem getting tagged by snakes. Well i'm looking to get a BCI first and maybe after that western hognose or ball python so i'll have time enough to study for getting one of those =D

I see you've got some Brazilians....if yours are anything like mine, then the green trees should be a piece of cake! I have to be more in the "keep your face away from my face" mode with my BRBs than with any of our chondros!

They're very different from all of those, so study hard :)
