On Easter, My beautiful whitesided rat that I posted pictures of the other day, laid 13 good large eggs for me this year, and then shed last week like a good girl. She has eaten heavily since she laid last month, but she refused her meal yesterday, which is SO not like her and was pacing alot and burrowing in her aspen which is not normal either. I thought better to be safe than sorry so I put her lay box back in with her at lunch today, and there she is laying a second clutch for me as I arrive home.

She was never put back with the male but thus far she has laid 3 slugs and two very large fertile eggs. I am ashamed at myself for not noticing her being gravid again by her appearance, but she is a big girl naturally so it came as a total surprise!

It feels like Easter all over again! Here is a good shot of her with her mate in March.

Oooooohhh, I think I need a rat snake! Especially the white one. Is that what's known as leucistic? Absolutely stunning.

And congrats on the second clutch. What a wonderful surprise!

Not familiar with rat combos, what are you expecting from these two?

This is a whitesided X leucistic breeding. It will produce a clutch we call "rusties". the pic below is their offspring from two years ago. The rusty is a visable het for Leucistic. so the offspring will be considered a Rusty normal that is het for Leucistic and whitesided.

The rusty's are Brownish red, orange yellow and white. Sort of a calico looking snake.

Nice job. Don't you just love the leucistics. I've got a couple and hoping to add white-sided to my collection. Nice breeding.

I have both Leucistic Texas Rats and Leucistic Black rats and they are SOOO different in personality. I adore them both though and its my favorite morph to look at.
