Box Turtle Enclosure: Progression Thread

They were so intent upon killing each other, I was able to capture Hatfield and McCoy!

I released them at far ends of two separate enclosures. McCoy (the apparent winner) was so cheeky he head-bobbed me after release!

Random spider: (McCoy helped photograph it before his release).

I'm so jealous... I wish we had wild life pouring in from the surrounding area in our yard... well actually, I wish we had a yard for them to trespass into lol...

Jeez Nanci, the only thing I have to take pictures of around here are flowers and Flame. You have a whole zoo to shoot!

I KNEW IT!!!

I saw five tadpoles today! They have back legs and seem to be developing lungs- they stay at the surface a lot.

Wow! Your yard and environments are just amazing! You have some very lucky little critters. :)

Watch out for that Oregano, though. Half our backyard is made up of the stuff, two years after we planted some in our herb garden. It's a weed. A great smelling weed, and much hardier than grass, so we're actually really glad about it...but be warned. It spreads like a demon. ;)

Tadpoles?? wow, now that is cool, you are getting all sorts of cool things breeding there for you. It would rock if your newts did that as well. :D

I love how animals just appear out of nowhere! I took some cool pics last night- I'll put them up this afternoon.

See now that you have water, i bet you will start seeing tree frogs around your place. Have you seen any adult frogs be them tree or aquatic around your place?

I can hear treefrogs. And I have these big outdoor shade things on my windows. I unrolled one a couple weeks ago and a green treefrog fell out. I took him to the boxie pond. I have never heard treefrogs at my house till this summer.

That is amazing to hear. It sounds like you are attracting tons of wildlife out there. Do you have a bird feeding station there as well?

Well, I had a bird feeder until I built the tortoise pen, but then I was leery of attracting bird predators who would possibly be interested in tortoises, too, or of attracting birdseed eating animals like possibly raccoons, possums or skunks, who would then look at whatever else was available. So I haven't had a bird feeder since last summer. But I have oaks, so tons of acorns, which attract birds, anyway, and the little house wrens love all the cover of empty flower pots and bags of soil, so they hang around.

Slug: (I would never kill these guys outright, although I know most gardeners despise them, but my boxies do like to munch them!)

Plants filling in, and new dragonfly solar lights, and no more tacky plastic table:
