breeding pair together for a week now

tradernick

Just another Florida guy
So far there's been no obvious sign of coupling...haven't seen them together, no yellow stains etc. Should I remove him and reintroduce him in a week or so? Or is it best to just leave them together?
NIck

Not in the last several weeks. I introduced him about a week ago. They stayed in their separate corners for the first couple of days, and have been sharing a hide for the last 5 or so days.

Has the female shed yet this spring, as in from January on?? I'd expect her to be receptive after her next shed.

Nanci yes she shed in late jan/early feb. Should I remove him and wait for her to shed?

Airenlow yep she is 3 to 4 years and he's 5+, so age/size shouldn't be an issue.

I have another pair that I'm keeping apart for a bit. My plan (if you can call it that) was to have this first pair breed/lay first, since this is my first time. The second pair is more interesting to me and I didn't want their clutch to be my first, but it's not a huge deal. Perhaps I should go ahead and put them together, eh?

I don't know the right answer, Nick. Related to her first shed, when did you put them together? Has the second female shed yet? I think if it were me, I'd be trying them every three to five days or so. My female became receptive nine days after her first shed of the spring, and has said yes for four times, every three days.

I appreciate your help Nanci. I think I introduced him about 8 weeks after her shed. The second female shed last week.
When you say try them every 3 to 5 days, do you mean put the male in for a day at a time?
