I grew up with parents that were big into snakes and have had them myself as well. I now have 3 boys(human) and want them to experience the friendly and colorful corn snakes since I loved mine as a kid.
Well, I saw a beautiful salmon snow male at an expo in Maryland and fell in love but my fiance' doesn't like the pale colors so I picked up a male Okeetee also. Then I came home and couldn't stay off the damn computer and started seeing all the new morphs that were not around 15+yrs ago. Went to another expo and picked up a pretty hypo lavendar female. Can't quit there, saw a sale in the classifieds here and I'm expecting a female fire, female coral ghost and a male lavendar(het amel/stripe) next week.
When I decided to get back into this, I really jumped. I know I'd like to breed again (my parents bred snakes, I used to breed bearded dragons). I really like the orchid I saw a pic of on Ians Vivarium by Walter Smith.
I need to lay my plans, I don't want to buy one, I want to breed towards that. Any sugestions? I'm reading the Corn Snake Morph Guide and Genetics for Herpers but a little overwhelmed at all the new info. I have room for 2 more snakes, just want to make sure before I fill the space that I'm doing it right (or at least headed that way) Thank you for any advice
 
Without a snake that is carrying the sunkissed gene you won't be able to create orchids for what you have. An Orchid is a sunkissed lavender. So, you have the lavender already, you'd need to get a sunkissed, but make sure it is from a gazer free line. Breed the SK to the lav, and then breed the babies back to each other. You should get some orchids from the f2s.

Thank you for the links. When you first said star gazer I thought it was a morph, didn't realize it was disease. Thank you very much for the info, you might have saved me some real heartbreak.
 
Orchids are, in my experience, THE most beautiful morph. They are simply amazing!

They are also not terribly difficult to produce but they are very rare as reptile shows. BHB does a monthly rep show just down the street from me. Its a big show and no one, including BHB has any orchids.

Its a great morph for every reason!
