Buckeye the new puppy!

Thanks everyone!!! I really like all the names, but it seems Buckeye is it because that's what we've been using. He just chewed through my computer modem cable, so I had to run out and replace it... Puppies!

Congrats on the new pup Kyle! It's great to see you guys got to the point to bring another one into your lives. Once you're a dog person it's tough to not have one around!!

Thanks Brent. Yeah, I've had dogs my whole life, my mom has 3, my sister has 4 and my dad has 3, not including cats etc...
I have a hard time trusting people that don't like dogs, it's counter intuitive to me IMHO.
When is the Vizla coming home! gotta love those colors!
Do they need alot of room to run like a Weimariner?

Richard Wolters has a quote in his book that goes something like You can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats his dog and even more by the way the dog treats him. Something like that. ;)

Taking a road trip to Illinois (yes Illinois! 12 hours one way) on September 18th, picking the dog up on the 19th, and then road trip back home that Saturday and Sunday. May need to arrange a stop or two along the way if any snake peeps are interested!

Yes. Very active, energetic, tough dogs. Good thing I started running (BLEH!!) this past Spring and Summer!

Oh YAY Kyle! He's adorable! I miss the puppy stages so much! He looks exactly like our litter of pups we had 4 years ago. Mom is Shepard/Akita mix and Dad is Rotti/St Bernard. He's going to be a really big boy! Give him lots of squishes for me!

Love that quote...coupla weeks and you'll have yours, be ready for the needle teeth!

At three months old ( I've had him for three weeks) I've got him:

Leash trained
Sit ( esp. before going outside)
Come
Stay
No ( stops all activity almost immediately)
Drop it!

Still tests what he can and can't chew, but stops when I say no and immediately replace the item with a chew toy and praise...constant unending praise...
and he will go to the door to do 1 or 2, but if you don't see it well then he still goes inside, I can't really blame him he's growing like crazy and eats and drinks like a horse....
Still working on "down" and his teeth are like fine needles!
I can also get him to howl like a wolf!!! pretty funny he does it well.

Thanks Tim and Beth, Well I thought it might be time for update pictures ( of all of us...lol). Buckeye will be 6 months on 12/2 and he is now a WHOPPING 54 pounds.
He's a real sweetheart, is still afraid of "new" things, has a puppy bark and his BIG BOY bark. I have left him alone for up to 7 hours at a time, loose in the house, and he hasn't chewed or soiled anything! We're very proud of him, he knows River's name and whines when I say he's coming over, he also has made great friends with my X's German Shep and my Dad's three dogs too... He loves to sleep in and sometimes has to be dragged out of bed and he's pretty clumsy, but I guess I would be too if every time I woke up every limb was 1/2 inch longer and I weighed a pound more...LOL.
He's also developed a nice reddish color that just glows in natural light.
and spots on his tongue have appeared from nowhere and slowly grow bigger like an ink stain, I didn't know they did that?

He really reminds me of my lab/chow mix. Sharp as a tack, black spots on tongue, ears set up high. Totally makes me miss Tiv.

I really like buck! The name, and the ADORABLE doggy XD and MAN did he get big quick! Looks like such a sweety-pie/ trouble maker

And if the cute little blond boy is your son River, he's adorable! I love that happy look on kids :)

Late-ish congrates on the new member to the family. I wish you many long happy years.

My Golden Retriever has a single black spot on his tongue that just randomly appeared one day.

Buck is a very handsome lad!

Wow, I can't believe how fast he's growing! He really is a beautiful boy, Kyle. And River gets more handsome by the day as well!!
