I went to our cornsnake's cage in my daughter's room and it was covered with these little white clear looking bugs jumping around. Some were in the water dish BUT the snake had nothing on it. There were two large piles of poop . We put the Black Fir Forest substrate recommend by the local pet store. Are these the type of bugs that will get on the substrate only and not the snake?? Our other cornsnakes cage is covered also with these white jumping bugs? Both aquariums are in separate rooms and have little or no contact with each other. Our other snake had nothing on it either.
We did however had the windows open during the warm spell here. The bleach and water seem to not have any effect on them. The substrate is washable. These bugs appeared within the last day or so.
My daughter's cage seemed to have a fowl order to the substrate. Where as my son's cage did not.
Please advise what these are? mites? of come sort?
