well this is a forum suggestion really... I think there should be a bump button, I have seen it around other forums, so that you can bump your thread 2 times in 10 minutes.. ?

It comes in handy a lot..

Threads get lost, or maybe someone has a important thread that needs answers fast and it gets lost, there could be rules a long with the button, like only use it if your thread is an emergency or very important..

just an idea that's all, its a very useful button to have.

I don't like the idea. I'm not even much of a fan of "manual" bumps unless the need for a reply is URGENT. In these very few instances, a "manual" bump is sufficient.

Are 'nt you over complicating things? If you need to bump a thread just post on it again

this though, is one of the reasons I chose to suggest this, it actually makes things easy.. I actually do, sometimes although rarely Bump a topic with a (bump) although it's not a very good thing to do because really its a type of spam, thats why i only do it on a rare occasion on any forum..

Another suggestion I have is one that has been suggested before..

fitting the corn snake FAQ somewhere on the forum tool bar at the top to kind of bring it out therefor being a few less questions being asked..

these are just some suggestions I have, some people may not like the idea but thats okay because everyone has the right to there opinion..

 Yes that works o.k.
as for over complicating things. Why? :shrugs:

when you just type (bump) it comes through as spam.. pointless posting.. thats why I'm saying we should have the button so we can bump threads without causing spam.. its actually not complicating things, it would be a small button on the bottom saying Bump..

I don't see what you mean, George.
If you only want to move it to the top of the list , re-post it.
If it's urgent people will reply quite quick (IMO)

well, yea, you could re-post it, but then there would be double threads around.. why not just have a button that does it...

This could get soo annoying with people endlessly clicking the bump button to get the photos of their snake or whatever up to the top.

I pretty much never feel the need to bump anything unless I have something really valuable to add to the thread, in which case a button wouldn't cut it anyway. And if you're really desperate to answers for something, you can always PM one of the experienced members here.

It's a nice suggestion, but I'm not a fan. It feels a tad 'gimmicky.' :shrugs:

IMO, I think we're okay without a bump feature. If there was an option as simple as a button to bump, I have no doubt people would abuse it and we'd forever be dealing with bumped posts.

is bump a board term that I am not familiar with

and what kind of button are we talking here

(bump) does the same job as a new post, when someone post's on your thread it brings it up to the top of the list of threads.

some people may be making a thread about an emergency they have regarding there pet, other people may not be able to answer the questions so they don't post, then more people make different threads and the emergency thread drifts further and further down, just an example..

therefor a button the bottom saying (bump) with rules, like only 2 bumps every 10Min's or something would probably be a good idea..

If it is a real emergency, the internet isn't a substitute for veterinary advice anyway...if something is so seriously wrong with someone's pet they need an answer NOW, they should be phoning a vet and not typing on a forum. :shrugs:

Yea I suppose your right, but I have seen the button on other forums and it seems to come in handy, basically it would not be a button used a lot, there could be restrictions on the button so even if we wanted we could only press it once or twice every 5,10 or whatever minutes..

it's a handy button..

I have to agree with most everyone else - there just doesn't seem to be a need for 'bump' button to be added. If someone posts an urgent question about a health emergency they are having - they typically create the thread with an urgent/emergency title and who-ever is on responds as best they can or refers to the someone who can help better - such as a vet.

I've seen numerous urgent threads and they stay pretty hot until the problem is resolved or the unfortunate happens and the snake dies.

Adding the 'bump' button only encourages people to spam or flood the forums with old posts for kicks or allows impatient posters the means to repeatedly draw their thread to the top therefore shoving the emergency and urgent threads out of sight more quickly.

As for the FAQ button - it is already there at the top. And it sends you to a search page that allows you to type in a specific question or word which will pull up relevant threads. Something that IMO, takes no longer then scrolling through a large section of assembled FAQs. I've used both ways and found I prefer to do the searches because you'll find a wider variety of answers and more in-depth explanations that you won't find on a cut and Dry FAQ. (That's not to say FAQs are useless - they do have their places - but not every question has just one answer as I'm sure you've noticed here on the forums.)

But then again - that's JMO.

I agree no need for a bump: What one may think is urgent another would find less urgent. If it is so urgent call a vet, I believe it was last year someone was having a real problem with a snake and couldn't get a vet, this person called Kathy Love direct, I think I remember this correctly.
Anyway George it was worth asking, susan

For those of us who go directly to "New Posts" when we sign on to CS.com, there's no need for bumping threads. Everything you haven't read yet still shows up as new.

I've never had a question go unanswered for more than 5 or 6 hours, sometimes overnight if I post a message right before bedtime. If I have an emergency or an urgent question, then I call a vet or do some Google searching on my own.
