Sup guys,
Okay, so I've been reading up on all different kinds of snakes over the past year or so, I find them to be quite interesting but I was never able to get one because my dad is not fond of them :awcrap: But my pops went on a business trip so I figured "hey, I got some extra time and money so I figured I'd pick up a snake and the other necessities"
He'll probably never see it anyway since it's in my room.
But here's my dilemma, I'm not sure what kind of snake I have... I'm only aware of a few places that carry snakes in my area and Petco happened to be one of them (other ones want an arm and a leg). I went to two different ones to see what they had and I found the snake I have ATM. There were two labels on the tank it was in at the store, King snake and Rat snake.
I can only assume it was a new arrival because he/she was very active "checking" out the area, a lot a tongue flicking (I'm under the impression they do this when in new surroundings to establish what's what, correct me if I'm wrong however). He/she looks beautiful and healthy so I made a purchase.
Perhaps an ID can be made via some pictures I snapped today.
He/she is about 16" long now.
At the moment I have the snake in a standard 10 gallon tank with a UTH on the side of the tank with two plastic hides, a water bowl and paper towels for a substrate. The tank temp near the heater is about 80-85 and on the cooler side it’s about 70ish. The snake has been using both hides and seems content with the current setup.
Thanks for reading,
Brian
