Butter Motleys - but stripeystripeystripey!

Look what my Butter Motley pair just threw in their second clutch of the year. What I believe Rich would refer to as "Stripe-Type Butter Motleys". They're genuine Motleys, but trying very hard to disguise themselves as Stripes!

And they look like two different shades of Butter as well. It was a real treat to pop open the incubator yesterday.

Those are really pretty, I saw 'stripeystripeystripey' and I just had to look! Congrats... Any more like those 2 in the clutch?

Not yet - it was a very small clutch (first time the female has ever double-clutched). Three have hatched so far - the two above and one "traditional" Motley. There's one egg left to go, but no sign of that pipping yet.

The father has a lovely partial stripe himself, so they're chips off the old block!

Here are Mom & Pop as youngsters:

Bad news on the last one out, I'm afraid. Nice clean (ordinary) motley pattern but the first couple of inches of his body seem to be badly kinked and he's barely responsive when I put my hand near him.

He's only half out of the egg so far, so I'm leaving him in peace for the mo. Strongly suspect either nature will take its course in the next couple of hours, or I will have to do the dreaded act to be kind.

Sorry to hear that one hatchling is in trouble, but the stripeystripeystripey ones are brilliant! Congrats
