What is a safe cleaner to use for mouse cages? Would a 409 spray cleaner or dawn dish soap work as long as i rinsed it out and dryed it well?

Yes, those would work if you rinsed them out.
I use a spray bottle with half white vinegar and half water.

Vinegar kills bacteria and destroys odors. It is also safe for your mice to eat. I use that on all my animals' cages.
Any dish soap is safe, but I would rinse because of stickiness.

To up the germ-killing properties of vinegar, you can put some thyme essential oil in it, but the vinegar alone is perfectly fine to kill the germs in a mouse cage.
I use the vinegar/thyme mixture as an alcohol free hand sanitizer.

Hand sanitizer

Its alcohol based. Therefore it evaporates. Just wipe it down real good. Its in expensive from the dollar store and works great.

That would kill all the germs.
Alcohol-based hand sanitizers give my hands a nasty rash, though, so I can't bear the thought of my snakes coming into contact with them.

Instead of buying the hand sanitizer, you could use straight Isopropyl Alcohol in a spray bottle.

If you use alcohol, I would monitor your snake's skin conditions, since I imagine there could be an adverse effect to sensitive individuals.

That why you wipe it down and allow it to evaporate, usually takes moments. Most hand sanitizer are 60% alcohol and have no major additives, such as aloe ect. For my snakes I use zoomeds wipe out. But I seriously do not believe it would hurt the snakes either. As far as the mice, I have had no ill effects for the last 2 years that I have been using it.
