Cage Clips

starsevol

Cohabbing is cruelty...
I would like to move my big amel boy into a tank. He is currently in a drawer system and is fine but I would like him to have more room. Are there any cage clips made that won't hurt my fingers? I know this sounds like a stupid question but every set of cage clips I have ever bought HURT me when I use them!

I use THESE

They don't hurt one bit! A piece of l-shaped metal will slide under the rim of the tank, and then the clip "hooks" under the lip of that metal, and goes over the screen top.

I use those clips also but, if you don't bend them out enough, they are a pain (literally) to get off. They are the only cage clips I know of :shrugs:

I use the same clips. I have them on my anole tank, turtle tank (only on this tank to keep the kids out) and corn snake tank. I have never had any problems with them. They are very secure.

I use them to and I HATE them. :twoguns:
From now on I'm getting tanks with the built in lids.

As an alternative to clips, I like to use Velcro. I've never had any problems with it (no escapes). :shrugs:

instead of clips, which i found difficult to stay on... i use a strap (black nylon) with a fastener (like on a dog collar... the plastic ones). get them at the dollar store and they work great ;)

I have a lid that fits inside the black plastic peice at the top of the tank, it has two white plastic peices that slip under the lip, and one on the other side that locks under the lip.

I tried velcro, but two things happened.

1. The lid fit so snugly that I could barely get it closed with the velcro.

2. The velcro held so well, that it took me an hour to get the lid open!

So off the velcro came, because I'm a wussy. :grin01: That might be what you are looking for, though.

velcro sounds like a cool idea...but my favorite:
Snug Fit Lids...
All-Glass tanks make critter cages with these lids. i have the 20L and the 29 gal. there are no gaps that the critters can squeeze through and the tank slides on and off. and you can padlock it shut to keep the kids and roommates from opening the lid.

Thank you everyone who answered me.
The straps sound like something to try becfore trying those ouchie clips again.

And I need to go to the dollar store this week.......
