Cali King morph help?

CodeRed

Critter Creeper
I got this boy/girl at... don't hate me, the local pet store. I'll defend myself and say that this store is amazing in their care for animals, and "Happi" is... well, happy :) He was sold to me as a Cali King, but to be honest, I have NO IDEA about any of the morphs of cali's. So, help?

Here are some pictures:

The reason for his name? :

The guy said he was about 6 months, and is a voracious eater. Yay!

Lampropeltis getula californiae, other wise know as California Kingsnake. It is pretty much normal.

Well, if this pet store is that good it DESERVES your money. What people get upset with is supporting BAD pet stores. If their animals are all properly cared for, that's a store your town SHOULD support. So don't feel bad, enjoy your new little one.

Thanks everyone! I had no idea I was going to get the little guy when I went in, actually. It was strictly a mouse visit... then I saw him ^_^ I did a little research on them when I was first starting out and looking for the snake I wanted, so I knew their general needs, but I'd never really... /really/ researched them, since I never really liked them... 'til now. But I DID have a tank set up already, so it wasn't a bad sudden purchase. He's totally set up, so I'm happy for now. Thanks again, everyone!

Well, my Cali is my favorite of all my snakes. She's a perfect TV snake- she can just sit and behave for hours.

Looks like a nice, banded, coastal phase. That's not really a morph. It's called that because wild kings closer to the coast in California tend to be very brown and yellow. Desert phase are vibrant black and white.

Personally, I don't think the banding is aberrant enough to warrant the term, especially once you look at Cali kings and see just how aberrant the patterns can get, even in the wild.

As far as morphology, I don't see anything "special". But I do see a very pretty and clean Cali king, and you should be happy about that!
