Calling all frog keepers

I am trying to find good information, books or website, about keeping frogs, dart frogs specifically. There is so much information on the web that it gets frustrating after a while because you find so much conflicting information so what better place to ask then here, right? LOL

Thanks in advance,
Josie

Well, I joined two forums when I got the toad(s) and they both seem like pretty active, friendly places with some decent care sheets on a lot of species. They were only mildly helpful for my purposes, as the species I have doesn't seem to be kept by many people but it looked like there are a LOT of dart keepers on them.
If you search for frogforum and dendroboards, they should come up. The frog forum seems to be the more diverse one and dendro is focused primarily on dart frogs.
Hope that helped some!

Awesome! Thank you very much! I knew I would find great help here. Searching the internet blindly can be a bit frustrating after a while.

I joined the dendroboard and have been reading threads there. I bookmarked the other two you just gave me.

One of the biggest things I have found conflicting information about is if I can keep more then one type of dart frog in the same viv. I really want a colbalt but like some of the others too.

i highly recommend this forum and site.

I was going to recommend dendroboard.com, but Jim beat me to it, so I'll second that recommendation. I could spend hours on there looking at stuff.

I have found that it is usually recommended against it even if the frog care is compatible, to prevent hybridization. Like if you stuck a cobalt with a different tinc you'd end up with some morph mixing.

Thank you! I'm actually only thinking about having one or two and since the colbalts are my fav's ( actually have one tattooed behind my right ear) I will stick with them :)

So another question to those who keep frogs and toads... Do you have a water feature in your viv?

I was building an enclosure for dart's, but have since put that on hold. However when I was building it I had a small waterfall feature. Nothing too major. With egg crate false bottom.

I have read so many people posting their "mistakes" while building their own vivs, can you not buy one premade? False bottem and all? Or building your own viv the only way to go?

I have seen some premade aquarium to terrarium conversions being sold at reptile shows, all set up just add animals.

Sometimes around here, you can buy established natural vivs. The local mom and pop pet store near here sometimes will have a few, I've seen some in ads in one of the local classifieds and there were a few at the Reptile Expo closest to me. So you might check those type of places out near you. They are usually a bit more expensive than what you would possibly pay to set one up yourself but are probably worth it.

We have two large chain pet stores here but very little mom and pop stores, and I do mean very little. I have checked craigslist with no luck. I have checked at the Reptile show with no luck.

I just keep Cuban's and I basically have 2 inches of water below the green.
