Yeah agreed that 1 hour in pretty deep water is probably exhausting for the snake. I'd start very easily, 10-15 minutes in a couple of inches of water. Also, maybe put in a small piece of something floating / standing above the water, so he can rest his head if he becomes tired.
I don't think constriction is that good exercise, as it's very short term - basically you doing a single set of bench presses! Of course you can toy with the snake during dinner, a bit, make him chase the mouse across the viv.
