Can a Snake Forget How to Constrict?

Yeah agreed that 1 hour in pretty deep water is probably exhausting for the snake. I'd start very easily, 10-15 minutes in a couple of inches of water. Also, maybe put in a small piece of something floating / standing above the water, so he can rest his head if he becomes tired.

I don't think constriction is that good exercise, as it's very short term - basically you doing a single set of bench presses! Of course you can toy with the snake during dinner, a bit, make him chase the mouse across the viv.

The best way to make the snake constrict it's food, I've found out, is to dangle the food a few inches above the snake. When the snake snatches the food and drops down, it's a natural reflex to coil around it.

To me, forced swimming seems possibly really stressful on the snake, depending on temperament. My Mango HATES the water and freaks out when he's in it. Maybe some like it. I think climbing stairs is also a good form of exercise for them. Good luck with him. :)
