It's really bright and I won't be able to sleep. I just got my albino corn snake today and didn't even think about it! It'll only be for 8 hours. My house stays around 78 all night.
So long as the ambient temperature in your room isn't freezing, your snake will be fine. It's 80 degrees in my house right now and none of the heat pads are on for the snakes.
Ok thank you so much! This is my first ever snake and I couldn't live with myself if I hurt it or anything. I read all the faq but I couldn't find my answer.
Remember that these snakes live in the wild, where it is NOT a consistent gradation from 85 to 75 degrees all the time. A few days without belly heat in *Arizona* will probably not be detrimental at all.
Agreed. I wouldn't risk switching off the only heat source overnight here in the UK, but I can't imagine you'll have a problem in Arizona at the moment.
Not only will your snake be fine at 78, it will appreciate the dark night. Corns are crepuscular in nature (active at dawn and dusk) and often fairly nocturnal in captivity. They don't need light, apart from the ambient light in the room. They generally seek dark hides during the day, and may well be stressed by too much light.
i have a heat lamp and a heat mat (my house is like a fridge lol) and what i have is a timer that turns the lamp on and off for me but my heat mat is left on all the time
