Can this work???

Maize411

Hooked for life!!
I had an idea of getting a sponge, dampening it with a bit of water and placing it in the hide on the cool end where Maize likes to lie...This would sort of be a man made idea of a humid hide...Can this work out or would the sponge hurt the snake?? Any thoughts??? thanks.. :shrugs:

The sponge idea should work, but humid hides are really really easy to make. Just take a plastic container(i use an old Indian-Takeaway container), cut a hole in the side big enough for the snake to get through(make sure the edges are smooth) then stick some damp spaghnum moss or paper towels in there.

If you don't want to make another hide or haven't got room etc, you could just put some damp moss or damp paper towels into her hide when she is looking like shedding.

I'm sure it would work, but a humid hide should be on the warm end of the viv, not the cool.

I took a small, plastic Folger's coffee container, cut it in half the long way, put some wet paper towels in each half, and voila...two humid hides, which is nice because I happen to have 2 that are currently blue.

I would sugest sticking whit a papper towel as the substrate, inside the humid hide, it work great and tis cheap.

Just moistened. I wet the papertowels every other day during the blue phase by squirting them from my spray bottle.
