Can't Get Skin off!!

Grrr. My snake shed yesterday and a little bit of his skin was still on his tail. So, like I have read here many times I took a wet towl and let him go through it, and I soaked him in water. It took off about 80% of the skin that was on there. But, theres still a little bit of it left, that no matter what I do, won't come off. It almost looks like a ciggarette ash in that it's squared off, and it's pretty small. Is there anything I can do? or should I wait till his next shed ? :shrugs:

sit down with him, and a glass or bowl of water wet you thumb and fore finger and rub the shed off till its all off. if you don't it can cut off the circulation in the tail, and that is bad.

No, I didn't get the email. I'm wondering if it hasn't already cut off circulation, before the unshed skin, its really red, and then back to normal. Plus, it seems to be on there really tight.

Iv had the same problem once. There was just a bit of skin left on the tail so i asked my friend who is a breeder on what to do and he said if it is just a bit of skin on the tail, just roll it off with ur fingers untill its all gone. If you do not do this and wait for the next shed, it will rot the tail and it will never look as good again. Keep us posted!

just use your thumb and index finger and roll it off the tail yourself. No biggie.

Grrr.... I did as you guys said, Most of the end of his tail came off, but theres still a little bit of white, unshead skin that won't come off, when i tried twisting it, he seemed to be in a lot of pain so I stopped, I don't think its possible to get it off.

sorry I haven't updated in a while, I lost my internet for quite some time. Anyways, I got off what I could and when his next shed came up, he lost all of his un-sheded skin! Thank you all for your help :wavey:

Keep a bottle of Shed Ease on hand!

It's from ESU reptile. A couple of times Shermy didn't completely shed, and after a soak in Shed Ease and water as per instructions on bottle, I was able to gently roll the remaining dead skin right off. One time he didn't want to stay in the bath, so I ladled it over him repeatedly with my hand and massaged him till the old skin came away. I since found that a Kritter Keeper cage with its cover makes an excellent bathtub for a treatment. The snake can't get out and eventually settles in to soak.

You also might want to give your snake some Shed Ease baths before its next shed.

i am having the same problem only my corn, wont shed at all, she is well past the blue phase and has looked like she'd come out of her skin for over a week now. since ive had her about a year and a half, i can usually tell when shes about to shed but this time it seems to be taking an extra long while. last night i put her in about an inch of warm water in the tub (i do this to help shedding and usually works fine) but she still hasnt shed yet, so i think im just going to wait a couple more days

I have used the Shed ease product in the past and it worked well.
However, I do not believe a "bath" is the best method. A good misting of sphagnum moss with this product works wonders. Put it in a container, pillow case, etc along with the snake for about 30 minutes. Never failed me and I think it is less stressful than forcing the snake to bathe, Just an alternative opinion

Glad the shed completed. btw when you say "Most of the end of his tail came off" did he actually lose part of the tail or just the stuck shed?

Shed Ease bath - might be a good idea to give your snake the opportunity to drink fresh water first, that way he won't decide to drink his bath water.

I think one time my normal corn went through a blue phase without actually shedding, can't seem to remember very well. If he did shed the process took a few weeks. Anybody else have incomplete shed cycles like that?

I haven't read any of the posts besides the first one, and i had that same problem, did excactly what you did, and he just shed again a few days ago and the tail area was double thich where the tip of the tip was still there, so he shed it off, so you have nothing to worry about.

My Anery stripe female has a shedding problem right now too. She has managed to get the top of the head back but the bottom jaw is still completely attatched. The rest of the body looks like it is ready to shed but the bottom jaw is just not cooperating!

I now have it in some moist bed a beast (not soup like) and tried rubbing the bottom jaw to no avail. I only noticed that it was in shed maybe 5 hours ago and then put it in the bed a beast.
Any thoughts?
