Can't Wait

topic is anyone being held back from getting something they want because they r still living with parents. not about my new love for bigger snakes. and i cant even see myself getting anything bigger than red tails for atleast another 5 to 10 years. but anyways BACK ON TOPIC

Sorry kiddo, you are neither moderator or "the regulator of posts"......

TBH I never had a problem feeding, handling or cleaning out my Burm, Retic or Anaconda.... Well none worth mentioning....
My problem came with having them outside of the viv....
When you are holding them you can have 7 ft of snake behind you doing something you can't see.... Next thing the bookshelf is cleared of books or ornaments are scattered everywhere or it's in the wiring or behind other vivs.... You get the picture...
Then when you reach for it you allow another few inches of slack for it to get further entangled or behind..... Nightmare....
IMO you need a room the size of a baseball pitch and you and the snake stay in the middle... LOL

But the burning question is..did your parents say it was ok for you to own a biggun, or did they hold you back?

Topics wander a bit naturally; and the subject of handling large snakes was relevant and a natural post to follow yours. Trying to direct conversation on this board is akin to herding cats, btw.

You are wise, handling a snake larger than about 7 feet by onesself can be a risk. This means if one has to feed the snake, clean the enclosure, etc. to be on the safe side, those who live on their own have to invite someone over, and that means living with a stinky cage if someone else can't get over there right away.

True and that would not be fair on the snake, I wouldnt be giving it a proper life let alone proper care. I just have to make friends with some one who owns one so I can stare at theirs
